L: A Frillish had heard that two rival Pokemon were planning an underwater race, so, eager to hopefully see one be stubborn and drown, he'd collapsed one of the air pockets they'd set up. Of course, they'd both ended up surfacing, ruining his plan... But, seeing that the Ducklett had returned to check it out, he decides to settle for them, waiting for the right moment...
G: Ducklett aren't the best at holding their breaths, compared to the racers. Plus it's a little difficult for them to swim. A perfect victim.
"...why is it destroyed?" He swims around it for any reasons why...
L: It becomes increasingly clear that the air pocket hadn't just been set up wrong; someone had intentionally sabotaged it. Just as that realization would come to the Ducklett's mind, they suddenly start losing feeling in their body as the Frillish wraps his tendrils around them! "Knew someone would come by again...~"
G: A slight burn hit his chest, reminding the duck he isn't like his friends. But then he lets out bubbles as he's suddenly dragged away! "Mmgbl! Y-You-" He struggles in the Frillish's grasp...
L: "Figured it out just a little too late, huh? Yep, I knocked that air pocket down, thought it'd be enough to drown one of those two racers... But hey, pretty well equipped to take care of that myself~"
G: "Mmf... Why!? Why would you-" He feels his chest tighten, causing him to shut up...
L: "Well, I love seeing you air-breathers desperately trying to keep your breath in..." The Frillish rubs a tendril across the Ducklett's chest. "And I especially love what comes after you can't any more~"
G: It's already pulsing lightly... He needed to breathe, and he can't get free! He tries to peck away the tendrils... "Mm... Mm..."
L: Frillish easily avoids each of the Ducklett's pecks. "There you go, fight back! Always fun to watch that, but that's gonna be nothing compared to what'll happen when you finally take a breath..."
G: Ducklett's getting desperate... He kicks his webbed talons desperately, smacking against the tendrils with his wings! Eventually, he covers his beak with them, his chest heaving and cheeks blushing red!
L: Frillish tries to pull Ducklett's wings off their beak. "Don't hold yourself shut, now... Let's make sure there's a nice, clear path for the water~"
G: It's hard to pull them away, as he held his beak tightly shut! But eventually he lost enough strength that the wings would be dragged away! It soon revealed his purple breathless feathers...
L: "THERE'S that blush...~ Purple always looks great on Pokemon like you, but blue looks even better... Wonder how much of you is gonna be blue once you're drowned?"
G: The Ducklett eventually gasps water, causing even more desperate flaps and kicks! "GLBABLBLBLBL!!! HLLLGBL! Kblblgbl... glk..." The duck's clearly not used to drowning...
L: "There you go! Deep breaths now, let it all in...~" Frillish turns Ducklett around to get a good look at their face as they drown.
G: Panicking, desperate, still kicking and flapping... Just an adorable sight as water keeps going down without his control. But he would slow down in his desperation, coughing weakly...
L: "I always wish it could go longer than it does..." Then, the two can hear Popplio's voice. "Hey, Ducklett? Where are you? I wanted to apologize for yelling at you!"
Frillish's eyes go wide at that. "Crap, I can't do this to more than one person..."
G: ...suddenly, Ducklett would get some life put into him, eventually causing him to weakly cry out. "Glk... Help..." He weakly cries out with a raspy, desperate voice with whatever energy he had left.
L: Frillish quickly covers Ducklett's mouth. "Shut UP...", he hisses at them.
But, Popplio had just barely managed to hear Ducklett. "D-ducklett? What's going on!?"
G: "Mm... Mmgh..." He desperately grabs the tendril, trying to pull it off. But everything's growing darker, and he isn't able to speak...
L: Popplio swims into view, and nearly gasps at the sight of Frillish holding Ducklett! "D-DUCKLETT!" He starts quickly swimming towards the two.
Frillish is starting to panic, knowing he probably won't win a straight fight. "D-damn it, um... Gah, whatever!" He lets go of Ducklett, trying to swim away.
G: All that was left now is a barely conscious duck. He reaches out desperately as darkness slowly took over.
L: Popplio doesn't even consider going after Frillish yet, darting to Ducklett and blowing out a big bubble for them to breathe, holding it to their mouth. "Just breathe, you're gonna be okay..."
G: He holds the bubble with his wings, coughing out the water and recovering his energy and breath. "Guh... Hah... hah... th-thanks..." He smiles at Popplio.
L: "I always heard to be careful around those things... Almost can't believe there really is a good reason for that."
G: "...They... they destroyed the air pocket... I... I didn't think they would..." He keeps gasping, preparing to hold his breath.
L: "Ugh, I should've known... You should probably go rest, I'll see if I can get Buizel to help get back at them..."
G: "D-Don't worry about it..." His gasps become shallower as air got stale, holding his breath and flapping his wings once more to swim for the surface.
L: Popplio stays with Ducklett to make sure they can surface okay. "And, um... Think you heard me earlier, but, I'm sorry I yelled at you about the air pocket. Felt bad even before I knew it wasn't your fault..."
G: "I... I can totally imagine you thinking I did it... I... I didn't want you to drown, though. I... know how painful it was..." He looks up... and it does seem rather far... Ducklett was dragged down quite a bit...
L: "Yeah, that looked awful, seeing you breathing water like that... Really glad I decided to come back." Popplio keeps on swimming, but since he'd exhaled a fair bit of air for Ducklett, he's a bit low on breath.
G: He looks over to the Popplio, worried for how much air that was needed for a bubble...
L: "Didn't realize we were this far down... I-it should be fine." Popplio smiles at Ducklett, but it's clear he's a little nervous.
G: Despite his want to surface, he slows down to the Popplio, not wanting to leave him behind. "Don't think about how far it is... don't think..."
L: Popplio speeds up his swimming, now puffing up his cheeks from his need to breathe. He does his best to not let out many bubbles, but they're getting loose regardless.
G: The Ducklett closes his eyes, flapping his wings desperately to go up faster. But bubbles left his beak at quite a quick rate...
L: "Mmm!" Popplio's fear is gradually getting worse, as he now starts to worry some whether he and Ducklett will actually reach the surface in time.
G: Soon, the Ducklett's chest began heaving once more. "Mm... Mm... Mmf..." Both wings covered his beak.
L: Even knowing it's going to mean he loses a lot of air, Popplio pauses to give Ducklett another air bubble. "M-might not help much... B-but it's something."
G: He tries to stop the Popplio, but he couldn't. Eventually he just takes the air to satiate the need to breathe... At least for now...
L: With the bubble given away, Popplio immediately resumes swimming, his chest heaving now.
G: "Popplio!" He swims down, holding a wing against his heaving chest to help...
L: Popplio tries to smile, but it's clearly forced, and he presses a flipper to his mouth for a moment, whining a little.
G: Ducklett wanted to help, but his chest started pulsing again! He looks up to the surface, hoping it's within swimming distance, before going onward...
L: Without really having any other option, Popplio follows after Ducklett, continuing toward the annoyingly distant surface.
G: At this rate, they're really gonna drown... He ignores the growing pain in his lungs as best as he could, holding his breath in as best as he could.
L: Popplio's swimming is getting frantic as he gains a purple blush, bubbles trickling from his lips.
G: "Mmfbl" The red-blushing Ducklett looks scared, seeing the purple color on his friend! Why won't the surface come soon enough!? And why is it so far, now...!?
L: As much as he wants to stop and cover his mouth, Popplio forces himself to keep swimming, knowing that just staying in place isn't going to help him. "Mm! Mblrp, grk!"
G: Ducklett needs his wings to keep going faster! He can feel the light getting slightly warmer, but his cheeks slowly turn purple... and he eventually stops and covers his beak in pain! "GBLBLK!!!"
L: Needing what's left of his air for himself, Popplio tries to keep going, but he finally has to cover his mouth as well, nearing his limit. "Mmmm...MMMRK! MMBLRBL!"
G: The surface felt so close, but way too far! "Mgbl... mm... mmf... HLGKGKL!!" And he soon gasps water, again, causing another panicked swim for air!
L: As Popplio's blush turns blue, he gasps down a breath of water too! "MM-HUUUGLKL! GLARGL-HLK!" He resumes frantically swimming for the surface as he chokes on the water.
G: He's weakening slowly over yime, whimpering and coughing as his entire body grows weak...
...and then the duck finally feels air hit his beak. "GAAAAAAAHHH!! *KOFF GAHH... kooh... haaah... hah..."
L: Popplio doesn't seem to be doing quite as well, his swimming starting to slow from his fading strength and the weight of all the water in his lungs. It's starting to come into question whether he'll be able to surface on his own... "HUULP! HIC-GLRGL!"
G: As desperate as the duck was to breathe, he would notice Popplio isn't with him...
Before he could get rid of all the water clogging him, he dives under to help the sea lion!
L: As his struggles slow down, Popplio starts to sink, his watery choking turning to slow breaths. He blearily looks up at Ducklett, trying to reach out to them.
G: Eventually he wraps his wings around the sea lion, kicking for the surface desperately before the small energy he got from his breath runs out... "Mmfh..."
L: Popplio does his best to stay awake, having a harder and harder time with it. All his air is completely gone now, water being the only thing in his lungs.
G: The Ducklett's energy slowly faded, again... but he soon pushes the Popplio's head above the surface to hopefully get him to breathe, beak just barely reaching the surface before he blacks out...
L: Once Popplio realizes his head's above the water after a second or so, he starts trying to force out the water in him and breathe, which he does finally manage.
G: His beak isn't fully above the surface, however, and he couldn't get a breath of air without assistance, too weak to move.
L: Soon remembering Ducklett, Popplio tries to hold their head above the surface as he continues coughing up all the water he'd been breathing.
G: And soon he starts gasping for breath with the Popplio, too. "Hah... hah... hoh..." Finally... fresh air...
L: Popplio soon finally calms down enough to be able to talk. "Th-think that's... Th-the deepest I've gone..."
G: "...th-thanks... for saving me..." He said with a smile, kicking his webbed talons to move closer to the Popplio. "...maybe... I should rest... with you two..."
L: "Y-yeah, let's get back to shore... Wish we could've gotten back at... Th-that frillish, but there's no way..."
G: "we'll... just worry about it... later..." Ducklett swims for shore, too, at least glad they survived that ordeal.
