The Hand of Glory was the severed hand of a hanged man prepared to be a candle by a certain magic ritual. Lit, it gave light only to whoever held it. It also caused any door the bearer approached to unlock & open. The smoke caused anybody to fall asleep or remain asleep, until the villain departed.
