Ever since Knuckle Joe saved Peony from Spectrine's soldiers while on a journey to rescue her adoptive Birdon parents and find her biological parents, she developed feelings for him. She would be very protective of Joe whenever the situation is, yet he'll protect her too.
Knuckle Joe does in fact care about Peony too, even though Peony can be a little weird. Non the less, the two love each other very much. Even Joe's mother Marian and Peony's parents found them cute together.
