This was my very first birthday present this year from a dear friend.
While one may see a modest portrait, this is a little more interesting. This was done by someone who is struggling emotionally. A state of mind making it difficult to express artistic work. This one drawing was done with love and care, yet its degraded execution compare to their usual work is the very imprint of their current state of mind. The melancholic duality as expressed by a smile, one hiding a hard felt pain, but reflected back to itself as a way to say that everything will be okay.
