Pheagle takes his special pendant with him when he goes ice fishing in Alaska, and winds up getting a lot more than he bargained for!

A commission from Ferret-Badger, who also wrote a nice little story to go with it!

CRACK!

Phil yelled out as the ice tilted under him, a shudder that rippled through the entire lake as the snap echoed across the snowy landscape. His expensive jacket and thermal underwear ripped to shreds as a towering dorsal fin pushed out from his back and his belly bulged outward, gut ballooning exponentially while his overall frame grew in size and became packed with dense, heavy muscle. Phil's gums ached as his sinuses cracked and popped, before the entirety of his lower face suddenly expanded out and forward, re-forming into the blunt maw of an orca. His tongue flattened and his teeth grew into sharp, carnivorous pegs, while his nostrils slid up his forehead and merged into a single blowhole. His gloves ripped and shredded, claws tearing through thick layers of insulation, as a massive tail burst forth from the shredded seat of his pants. The cleats wrapped tight around his winter boots had no stretch to give, snapping and ripping as huge webbed toes burst forth and claws scraped furrows in the ice.

As the ice finally gave way completely and Phil fell through into the biting waters below with a deep breath, the bald eagles who'd swooped in to opportunistically grab his catch squawked in alarm and flapped into the air with their stolen prizes. He instinctively clenched his blowhole shut (and what a strange feeling that was, to have such control over the muscles atop his head). Phil opened his eyes, treading water with his webbed hands and feet, and marveled at the underwater world before him. Thick layers of blubber kept the otherwise deadly cold at bay, and with a fresh lungful of air, he felt as though he could stay down here forever. A powerful stroke of his tail and uncoordinated flail of his limbs sent him head over heel, but with his new instincts, it took only a few tries to get the hang of swimming properly.

Method of locomotion settled, Phil's attention was then drawn to the schools of fish in every direction. He grinned sharply, rushing into a school of rainbow trout and savoring the flavor of his first catch between his teeth. Forget sitting on a frigid expanse of lifeless ice, waiting for a fish to bite.

*This* was *real* ice fishing.
