Rydsuke, an average cram school student finds himself in a school for the dead after a tragic accident that takes his life. In order to get back to the world of the living, he must learn who his killer was via grueling paper work that will suffice for filler episodes until the plot point is eventually dropped, wherein he must then make a pact with Lord Shinigami-san-sama to be a Shinigami himself (a different Shinigami, not Lord Shinigami-san-sama) to kill his killer and avenge his death, but before he do that he must pay off his own soul's debt by claiming 100 human souls before Duroduru, the other-other Shinigami can! (again a different Shinigami from that of Lord Shinigami-san-sama) Can Rydsuke keep his grade above average and claim enough souls to avenge his death and eventually return to life before he's buried all while avoiding the bewitching temptations of Piqu-Chan, which would trap him there forever?
