Reminds me of the old Dr. McNinja comic. The McNinja family celebrated a holiday where their ancestors drove off pirates from thier home in Ireland using sharpened shamrocks as ninja stars. Dr. McNinja constantly complained how stupid the story was and even dumber making a holiday for the occassion. Then later on when fighting against pirates a ice beam weapon froze the ground he was laying on and he looked over to see a clove of frozen shamrocks. He, reluctantly, grabbed them and used them as throwing stars while complaining how ludicrously stupid this whole thing was.
