Fun fact: Weapons where the reactive gases have a danger of backblast leaving the rear of the barrel have far reduced recoil forces on the user. Weapons where the gases mainly exit the front of the barrel with the projectile, like say an autocannon... yeah, flying kobolds with each trigger pull.
