Caiden and Kyle and their father, Mike, had just boarded their very long flight to Brisbane, Australia from the United States. Mike got his two hyper boys situated in their seats for the long journey. After securing the two squirrelly wolf boys to their seats, Mike handed his youngest the tablet and set up the screen on the back of the seat for his eldest. After a hectic morning of getting two boys ready for an overseas trip Mike was exhausted and ready for a somewhat relaxing flight.
The plane taxied and took off without issue and they were finally on their way. The first hour of the flight was relaxing as the boys were entertained with their screens and Mike was deep into a much needed nap. Unfortunately for daddy, his nap was interrupted by the nice stewardess with the snack cart. The creak of the snack cart caught the boys attention and they both tugged on their father's sleeves and begged for a tasty snack. Of course Mike obliged and grabbed some snacks for his boys and himself. He got cookies and grape juice for the little ones and a Ginger Ale and pretzels for himself. Annoyingly, there were no juice boxes available so they were given two full plastic cups of grape juice. Mike wasn't really worried about the open container with his six year old, but his three year old was a bit of a mess when it came to food and drink in general. Thankfully, Mike had the diaper bag handy and grabbed Caiden's sippy cup from it. He filled the sippy cup up and passed it to his littlest one and sat back to enjoy his snack.
Even with all the careful preparation in preventing any messes, disaster still struck. Though it didn't come from his youngest son as he would have expected, but instead it came from his oldest. Not even five minutes after they received their snacks, Kyle spilled his mostly fully plastic cup of grape juice all over his lap. Apparently Kyle had left his cup on the edge of his tray table and the plane hit a small bump that sent the cup over the edge and all over Kyle's shorts. Mike quickly stepped into action and tried to dab up the mess with the thin cocktail napkins, but to no avail as Kyle's shorts were purple and very wet and sticky. Mike figured that the best way to clean up the mess was in the lavatory. He stood his teary eyed oldest in the aisle and told him to make his way to the airplane toilet. Mike then grabbed the diaper bag and Caiden as he couldn't leave him unattended and figured that he could probably use a change anyway.
The Smith boys shuffled their way to the bathroom and piled in. With hardly any elbow room, Mike managed to fold open the changing table and stood Caiden on top of it. Mike performed a quick diaper check on his youngest and confirmed his suspicions that Caiden was indeed in need of a diaper change. Papa wolf laid Caiden down on the table and plopped the diaper bag on the sink. Mike shuffled through the diaper bag, but could not find any spare clothes for Kyle. He didn't plan on having this issue with his oldest son so all of Kyle's clothes were in their checked baggage. So Mike improvised and handed Kyle a spare pair of Caiden's shorts from the bag and instructed him to take off his soaked undies and shorts and put the size 3T shorts on. The whimpering older cub nodded and obeyed as Mike turned to Caiden and started changing his diaper. Mike swiftly wiped and cleaned Caiden's bum, slid a new diaper under him, and was about to tape him up. Before he could do that he felt a tug on his own shorts from Kyle and Mike turned to him to find the half naked Kyle could only pull Caiden's spare shorts up to his knees and no more.
Mike sighed as he had seemingly run out of options. He couldn't let Kyle wear the sticky and damp juice pants the rest of the flight and he couldn't let him run around pantsless and showing his bare hinie for the world to see for the next 10+ hours until they got their checked baggage. Mike turned back to his youngest to finish the task at hand while he tried to think of a solution. He pulled the tapes around to the landing area on Caiden's diaper and secured it in place. All of a sudden it clicked!
"Ok son, I have a solution, but you're not going to like it..." announced Mike as he grabbed another diaper from the diaper bag and flashed it to Kyle as it was a slightly more socially acceptable approach than the alternatives.
Kyle outright refused to wear the diaper and was on the verge of a massive tantrum as a result. Mike tried to reason with the pup, but nothing seemed to work. Finally, after a lot of pleading and bribing Kyle reluctantly agreed. On the terms that he didn't have to use the diaper and that he could get the biggest ice cream sundae when the landed Kyle agreed to wear the diaper. Mike finished putting Caiden's pants back on and placed him on the ground and then picked up Kyle and laid him on the changing table. Kyle was just light enough to not break the table, but his legs mostly hung off the edge. Papa wolf prepared the diaper and Kyle flipped out again and was on the verge of a tantrum again. It seemed that the 'carrot' wasn't working and maybe Kyle needed the 'stick' instead so to speak. Mike firmly said Kyle's name and glared at him. Kyle knew what would be coming next if he didn't comply so he calmed down and cut his losses with the 'carrot' instead. Mike finally managed to tape the diaper onto his eldest. Fortunately the diaper just barely fit thanks to the stretchy sides and the ordeal in the airplane lavatory was over.
The three left the bathroom and headed back to their seats. Kyle led the way and held his shirt down as far as it could go to try and hide the diaper. He was followed by Mike and Caiden as the three year old tot was snickering at his brother's misfortune along the way. The rest of the flight went off without further drama and they landed in Australia many hours later. Kyle was still in the diaper of course and had managed not to use it the whole flight. The Smith boys disembarked the plane and headed to customs with Kyle holding his shirt down as far as he could still.
"Cheer up kiddo. We're almost there!" quipped Mike as he tried to lighten up the mood.
Caiden chuckled again as he saw his brother blush again. Kyle didn't find it amusing and couldn't wait to get back in his own undies and shorts. He just hoped that none of his Brisbane friends would see him this way.
There is a big upside at least. If he needs to poop or pee badly, instead of waiting forever to make it to barely make it to the bathroom, he can feel immediate relief by just immediately going in his pants/diaper. I'm sure that no adult would mind.
