I've met individual cops who were nice and helpful (to me, a white man). But the institution of policing itself is descended from the Pinkertons and runaway slave patrols and ngl not a lot has changed since then. I won't get into the whole philosophy behind it here as I do try to keep my IB page relatively apolitical and friendly tho =w=

And I don't think it's the individuals fault all the time. They're paid shit, given barely any training, and told their lives are more important than anyone else and don't hesitate to use their gun.

median salary for police in the US is 62 k/year which isn't bad at all. Compare to Postal workers who make 24-52k/year - even the high end is less than the median for cops. Both gov't employees with good benefits, retirement and healthcare.
No matter where you go police are an instrument of the state whose job is exclusively to wield violence as a tool to enforce the will of the governing body. Some countries' police have better reputations than the US but I'm a big proponent of the idea that the purpose of a system isn't it's stated goals but what it actually does. You can talk about bad apples and police reform all you want but when you look at the results the institution of policing has you get a pretty clear picture of what the purpose of it all is.

Well... You got me there. Regardless, police departments mishandle their funds and shouldn't have them. Those funds should go to social services that help the people, not shoot them.

With how much I see you put out in the stream commissions, I'm honestly not surprised. I really respect that you're able to accomplish so much, but I do also wish you could be less burnt out and find more time for yourself (I won't assume to know your workload/work capacity or personal life, though I do assume you're plenty experienced in balancing a personal business for how long you've been at it....)
