'Detransition Awareness Day' was initially created by hateful groups to bash the trans community, and I'm aware even mentioning this may ruffle some feathers, but we should work to reclaim the meaning and make it something positive for everyone. If detransitioners can't have today dedicated to them, then when?
There's a lot of things we've reclaimed from hateful groups. The pink triangle was once a symbol used by the Nazis to identify gays. Now some gays use it to identify themselves. Even the words gay or queer were once slurs.
The more we take away from hateful groups, the less they have against us

My oldest best friend is a detransitioner. They inspired both this character and this art.
Life is about finding your purpose and meaning in life. The thing that makes you happy.
Whether that's being CIS, or trans, or anything else, that's what matters.
You're valid.

This is lovely, as someone who is trans I think that detransitioners deserve just as much attention as anyone else and need to be respected and appreciated. They aren't "proof that being trans doesn't work out" or anything like that, they are people who tried something and found out it wasn't for them, which is completely valid! At least they can say more than the people who aren't willing to experiment. These people deserve a day just like anyone else, and I'm happy to see someone celebrating it.

Their stories deserve to be told and not suppressed by those in denial, nor weaponized as ammo in an anti-trans attack. They are people, like any of us.
They do indeed deserve a day to be recognized, and we'll be reclaiming something designed to be hateful while we're at it.
