This is made to commemorate the passing of Akira Toriyama (March 1, 2024), the creator of Dragon Ball. Spoiler alert, but this is set to take place years after the events of the filler episode "Which Way to Papaya Island?"
It is important to note that although the said episode is a filler one, not a relevant part of the main plot, it allows exploring the depth and development of certain characters, especially when no threat is around at a moment. Any filler episode or chapter, if planned and executed right, can make a skippable yet great addition to the show.
