One day, J.C. and Suki were in Tokyo for a vacation. They had bought some tickets due to a contest and were now walking through the city streets of Tokyo. During their walk, they came across a lot of fun stuff during their trip there. They spent some time at an arcade, stopped by a restaurant to try some of their ramen, but the most fun part they saw was shops that were selling manga and anime. J.C. and Suki found some great manga and anime series that they're really fond of, but before they could leave, J.C. noticed a news report on a nearby TV and saw some shocking news.
J.C.: By the angels of Heaven...
Suki: What's wrong?
J.C. points at the TV. It says that Akira Toriyama, the creator of Dragon Ball had passed away on March 1st from a subdual hematoma at the age of 68.
Suki: Akira Toriyama. You know about him?
J.C.: Are you kidding? I could tell you some of his projects.
Suki: Really? Name a few examples.
J.C.: Dragon Ball Z. One of the most successful Japanese media franchises of all time. Still is, to this day. He also did Dr. Slump, Sand Land, Dragon Quest, Blue Dragon and who can forget Chrono Trigger.
Suki: Wasn't there a live-action movie based on Dragon Ball?
J.C.: Yes. It was called "Dragon ball: Evolution". But...
(J.C. lowers his sunglasses)
J.C.: Nobody really talks about that.
Suki: Oh.
(Suki rubs her head nervously)
Suki: Well... what about other anime series that were inspired by them?
J.C.: Oh, I can give you a few examples, some I've known from middle school and high school.
Suki: Like what?
J.C.: Fairy Tail, Bleach, Naruto, One Piece, and it's been a long time since I remembered this, but Rave Master.
Suki: Wow. So, what do we do?
J.C.: Find his resting place, I guess.
(He looks at his clothes)
J.C.: But first...
J.C. and Suki went into a nearby restroom. Minutes later, they walked wearing their outfits based on Dragon Ball Z. J.C. was wearing black and red Saiyan Armor, a blue jumpsuit, a blue Capsule Corp. jacket with angel wings on the back and a red scouter along with his gloves and shoes. Suki was wearing black and blue Saiyan Armor, a gray jumpsuit, a black Capsule Corp. jacket with white stars and moons on the back and sleeves and a blue scouter along with her gloves and shoes.
Suki: It's a good thing we brought these outfits with us.
J.C.: Told you these would come in handy one day.
J.C. grabs Suki's hand and they flew off. As they flew, they checked the scouters, wondering how close they are to their location.
Suki: According to the scouters, the cemetery should be somewhere around this location.
J.C.: The sooner, the better.
(Suddenly, he noticed something on the scouter)
J.C.: Hold on, I think the scouter is sensing a power level.
(His eyes widened)
J.C.: Make that more than one power level.
Suki: Wait, what?
J.C. noticed a nearby tree and he and Suki hid behind it. They checked the scouters, wondering where the power levels were coming from. When they looked behind the tree, they were surprised to see who it was. Surprisingly, it was Goku and Vegeta along with their friends and family. They also had Naruto Uzamaki and Monkey D. Luffy with them.
J.C.: Is that... Goku and Vegeta? And it looks like Naruto and Luffy are with them.
Suki: Should we talk to them?
J.C.: Let's wait. I wouldn't want to interrupt them.
Suki: If you say so.
They watched as the group paid their respects to Akira Toriyama. They could tell that he inspired so many artists for both manga and anime. J.C. and Suki also heard speeches from the group, most of them were inspiring about how much Akira Toriyama has done. Moments later, they all decided to go their separate ways. The group left, but Goku stopped for a moment, sensing something.
Goku: Hey, Vegeta, did you feel that?
Vegeta: Feel what?
Goku: I thought I sensed a couple of power levels by the trees over there.
Vegeta: Must be your imagination, Kakarot.
(Shrugging, they both left)
J.C. and Suki walked out from behind the tree as they watched Goku and Vegeta leave. Afterwards, they walked towards the grave of Akira Toriyama. Surprisingly, they saw a lot of stuff placed around it. There was a kunai with the words "Thank you Akira Toriyama" written on the side, glass replicas of the Dragon Balls, a Gi similar to the one worn by Goku and Krillin with a Japanese symbol for bravery on the back, a scouter and a lot of flowers.
J.C.: Wow. I knew he inspired a lot of people, but this is intense.
Suki: I know. I haven't seen this much tribute around the grave since we saw the grave of Jason David Frank.
J.C.: Indeed. Well, we might as well do the same.
They sat by the grave. J.C. told Akira stories about all of the inspiration Dragon Ball has given him. He explains that the series is part of the reason why he's becoming a strong fighter and a storywriter. He even told him about a lot of flash animations that were inspired by him, mostly ones involving Mario and Sonic. He and Suki also talked about some of the attacks and their super forms. J.C. then takes out a card and a white rose before setting it down on the grave. Suki set a pink rose by the grave along with a drawing of them in their DBZ outfits.
Suki: So, what was the cause again?
J.C.: They said it was acute subdural hematoma. Also known as a blood clot in the brain.
Suki: That's horrifying.
J.C.: I know. I heard he left some unfinished projects. One I heard about recently was a new edition to the Dragon Ball franchise.
Suki: Another one?
J.C.: That's what I heard. I think it's called "Dragon Ball Daima", if I remember correctly.
Suki: I see.
J.C.: Funny story is... I actually saw Dragon Ball Z when I was in elementary school.
(Suki's eyes nearly popped out of her head when she heard this)
Suki: Are you kidding?
J.C.: I don't kid, Suki.
Suki: Well... my mind is officially blown.
After spending a little more time with the grave of Akira Toriyama, they decided to leave.
Suki: Well, we still got one more day of this vacation. What do we do now?
J.C.: I guess we could visit Goku and his friends, maybe do a little training with them.
Suki: Wait, really?
J.C.: Why not. I think it would be cool to turn into some of the super forms and learn some of the attacks they use.
J.C. and Suki then turned into their super forms, Angel J.C. and Light Wolf Suki.
Suki: Might as well practice with our own super forms. Been a while since we used them, anyway.
J.C.: Exactly what I was thinking. Well, that, and I might get some ideas for some fan characters based on Dragon Ball.
Suki: You want to make some Dragon Ball OCs, bro?
J.C.: Got to be honest, sis, it's growing on me.
(They took one last look at the grave and with a smile on their faces, they flew off)
Rest in peace, Akira Toriyama.
