With TV screens throwing a special surprise, the bombast of brass instruments marks the commercial’s ceremonious start as it suddenly opens to the skunks before having a birthday bash. Sat at the center of the table with two blue balloons tied to each end, seated between the duo of mom and dad is none other than the blue-shirted birthday boy himself, the pointy baby blue hat pointing to the fact he’s turned two years old as it sports said number in yellows bright and warm. Warmer smiles further suit the celebratory setting while the pair of parents admire the little one made from two loving hearts, their eyes sparkling with elation amidst this celebration of their son’s second year of life.
“Hehehehe! Chocowate! Chocowate!”
Complimenting the heartfelt feelings of caregivers is the excitement and ecstasy of the bushy-tailed boy while his hands energetically drum on the table and his feet swiftly kick up and down, for at the shot’s front and center is the sweet that makes birthdays complete, a cake whose two lit candles make this warm and wholesome ambiance all the warmer. With this tantalizing treat containing two chocolatey layers, one whose soft and spongy base will satisfy the two year old’s taste buds, and the second whose gooey and fudgy frosting will satiate that sweet tooth, amidst this special day so full of surprises, it’s certainly no surprise the little skunk sports such a wide smile! Neither is it surprising that a dark blue bib is the second accessory alongside his hat, for with such a sticky treat at the tip of his tiny fingers, big messes are bound to ensue!
But…as the shot cuts away from that coveted confectionary to a backside shot of the skunk sporting Sturdy Stinkers, the same backside shot that preceded lots of poop in the previous commercial and now puts the birthday boy’s big diaper in view, the camera makes it clear that there’s two big messes to consider, that both the sticky and the stinky are possible scenarios. A few moments later, a familiar narrator confirms that smelly sentiment with talk of number twos.
“We’ve said Sturdy Stinkers are the number one diaper for number twos, but some may say that’s quite the loaded claim!” they say in a cheerful tone, their playful prose showing they’re very eager to disprove such skeptics. “So, what better way to show its number two talents than a skunk who’s just turned two?”
Right on cue, the toddler’s tail once swishing with excitement suddenly hikes straight up, showing that chocolate fudge cake won’t be the only thing with a bunch of browns, that brass instruments won’t be the only boisterous sounds in the background.
“Mmmmmph……mmmmmph!”
PFFFFT! FRRRRRRT!! BLOOOOOOORT!!!
With the sweet song of “Happy Birthday” swiftly followed by far cruder cacophonies, a couple of grunts beget a big mess as several mounds make way into his diaper, causing it to swiftly balloon in size while large loads give the little one a lumpier seat. Flipping back to the front view amidst this dirty deed, the faces of the three skunks now show separate tensions instead of shared smiles. The tot’s face once sparkling with glee is instead so stiff and tense now that being a bigger number also means much bigger numbers to make. The dad who must change the little dude’s diaper now wears a worried face at poopy pampers potentially being the biggest “birthday gift” to unwrap while his son still poops his poofy pants. Even the mother who’s placed the most trust in Sturdy Stinkers can’t help but be concerned that birthday candles won’t be the only thing getting blown out while her boy keeps making boom boom.
“Phew……”
The toddler’s face is first to relax as he finally finishes filling his diaper, now having much more room for that decadent delight. The camera then switches back to its backside shot, allowing the audience to also sigh in relief since that larger and lumpier diaper, rather than being a dire blowout doomed to happen, is a big throne so suited for the tot made to feel nothing but special on this amazing annual event, for the boy who need not feel any stigma for simply doing what skunks do best.
Pat…Pat…Pat..
Ensuring all that poo poo is still in its proper place, the parents then give the packed pampers a gentle pat, and with that diaper having done its duty, so too can the caregivers sigh in relief while brass instruments keep that lively birthday vibe alive.
“We know those baby skunks are only getting bigger, and that means much bigger messes too!! That’s why Sturdy Stinkers always handle their hefty loads!” says the narrator in a triumphant tone.
With the three skunks smiling once again as the camera focuses on their faces, although the little one’s a party pooper in the most literal sense, his birthday bash goes on and he promptly blows out the cake’s candles. Cheerful applause and hurrahs soon follow from mother and father, not only to celebrate their son’s super delightful day, but also to commend the diaper containing all the turds of the recently turned two year old.
And now, the commercial shifts to a scene different as night and day. Birthdays bidding the baby boy goodbye, lots of sleep and sweet dreams soon await the little skunk snoozing in his crib. The birthday hat and bib marking times full of silly energy and fun are now replaced by much more soothing accessories, a blue binky whose pacifying presence provides the kid relaxing comforts alongside a blue pajama top. The Sturdy Stinkers once so packed with poop are now nothing but pristine as he dons a diaper pure white and clean. The background music once booming with brass now shifts to the slower and softer sounds of music boxes best fit for the boy’s slumber. Even the narrator’s previously pumped up pitch now starts to soften, as though wary not to wake the diaper-clad kid.
“We also know those skunks don’t just dirty their diapers during the day.” they say in a near whisper. “That’s why Sturdy Stinkers have built in rash protection, so their signature stink doesn’t stop their sleep.”
Ending his birthday with a boom, needing to do one last deed before dreaming, the skunk shows he can stink in his sleep as he lifts up his little legs. Having eaten his share of that yummy chocolate cake, it only makes sense he’s got “chocolate” to make as delightful desserts lead to dirtier diapers.
“Mmmmmph…mmmmph….”
Scrunching his face and clenching his fists to tense up for his number two, kicking his feet and swishing his tail so movement assists in his bowel movement, grunts then give the go ahead to dirty deposits.
PBLAAAAAAART!!! SLUUUUUUUMP!!!
With squelchy sounds signaling shifts from sweet to smelly, the cake’s soft texture makes for something much firmer as the two year old dumps a big one into his diaper, causing a large and rounded lump to begin bulging from the bottom while its expansion suits his big stinky. His tail still swishing once that sizable solid settles, although this massive mess already takes the cake, another “chocolatey” component must make things complete.
“Nnnnnnnngh!”
SPLOOOOOOOORTCH!!!
The sugars of fudge frosting then cause the kid to further fudge his diaper as a runnier mess swiftly and sloppily spills out, making it slightly sag some more as its bottom half stains dark brown.
“Mmmmmm….”
And yet, despite the stinkier sight on screen, just like that tasty birthday treat, the situation is nothing but sweet. Sighing in relief with bowels unburdened, feeling all the more ready to drift to dreamland while a wave of relaxation washes over him, the skunk now sports a satisfied smile. Proving such claims of rash protection aren’t rash assumptions, a transparent teal clock marks a time lapse to the next morning, and as its hour hand dynamically loops around, the kid’s content face remains a constant, showing undisturbed sleep all the way to sunrise. Now ready to rise and shine, the little skunk stands up and peeks out from his crib while the shot shifts to the smile still on his face, starting the morning as happy as ever even with a heavily dumped diaper.
Closing off the commercial, the final scene shifts to the living room setting like last time as light beige carpet takes up the background and playful piano takes the place of the previous track. At the shot’s center is the boy sporting nothing but a new pair of Sturdy Stinkers, his happy face showing that’s all the attire really required to keep such skunks satisfied. Supporting his body beyond his big diaper is the brand’s blue pack he’s seen proudly standing on, and with such pampers now proven to handle even heftier loads, the sky blue pack now shines as a status symbol, as though the toddler stands not solely on a box of baby supplies, but a pedestal showing what it feels like to sport superior padding.
“Sturdy Stinkers. The diaper that’s #1 for #2’s!” says the narrator as the brand name and the slogan appear at the top and bottom of the screen respectively, such words now holding all the more weight while they show up in a teal colored font and the little skunk starts to wave goodbye.
However, as his scrunched face swiftly shows, stinky send offs must be a staple for diapers sold with skunks in mind!
“Mmmmmph!”
PBLAAAAAAARMPH!!! SLUUUUUUMP!
Following the speaker’s final mention of number two’s, so too does the two year old make one last number two as a squat and a single grunt sets off a stink bomb, the shot now briefly showing his packed pampers hardly hovering above the ground. After that last hurrah to heavy duty diapers, the camera cuts right back to the kid’s cute face as he giggles and claps his hands, prompting pianos to make a playful flourish before ending the program on that positive note.
