It's the Chinese New Year and the Year of the Rabbit is giving way to the Year of the Dragon. To help celebrate, Bugs Bunny has handed over the coveted Singing Sword* to a certain coyote girl—a transfer that has ignited the passion of the dragon entrusted with guarding the artifact. With Bugs holding the reins and an avid Lola Bunny along for the ride, the Sword sings a merry melody as the dragon gives hot pursuit. (What Dottie Coyote thinks of the festivities is open to debate.)
*This scene is inspired by the cartoon "Knighty Knight Bugs" (WB, 1958) in which Bugs Bunny retrieves the priceless sword from the thieving Yosemite Sam and his trusty, though occasionally inept, dragon. The background, and most of the dragon, were acquired from a wonderful cel drawing by the cartoon's director Isidore "Friz" Freleng. His cartoon would win the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film, making it the only Bugs Bunny cartoon to win an Oscar. Bugs Bunny, Lola Bunny and the dragon are property of Warner Bros. and their minions. Dottie Coyote is me.
