The southernmost of Japan's four largest islands, Neo-Kyushu has held a semi-independent, self-governing status for four centuries following the mysterious explosion of furry, animal-like humanoids known as Kemono across the region, called The Fluffing. Today the population is roughly 85% Kemono and 15% an elvish race called Yosei. The two groups haven't always had the best relationship, and to this day largely keep to their own, though blending is not uncommon.
Life in Neo-Kyushu is not too different from elsewhere in 25th century Japan, with some notable exceptions, including of course the availability and variety of dining and grooming facilities. Kemono also have a markedly open and free-spirited attitude toward nudity and sexual behavior, which first-time visitors may find alarming. The climate is pleasant all year and the locals are very welcoming of outsiders, but don't expect many accommodations to favor non-Kemono outside Yosei centric areas.
Fun Fact! "Kyu" can be translated as "squeak" from Japanese.
