My original character Donovan the Raccoon and my friend Wonald's character Mickey Ross have gone through a ton of character development since they've come on the scene. Donovan started off as a character I created to just host the original Sonic Survivor Island because I didn't want any of the official cast to do it. He would present the moments of embarrassment to the viewers while being under the thumb of his boss. Now he's grown a bit more confident and even has a beta boyfriend in Manic the Hedgehog. Though he still gets humiliated from time to time.
Mickey was going to start out as a mercenary hired by Eggman to mess with Tails and originally had no past or family. Now he has an origin story, a family, and a mischievous boyfriend in Eclipse the Darkling, who sometimes embarrasses him with his antics of love.
It's a process that I wasn't even aware was happening but it happened. Here's a scene depicting the two of them meeting in a school cafeteria after a food fight and after Mickey suffers an atomic wedgie from a bully. It's a scene from an RP but it illustrates how they are rather well I feel.
