Here's part of the Time Rift mini-saga that I never posted here... three Byrons discuss the Game Boy Advance, along with its unreleased predecessor, "Project Atlantis." Evidently the Game Boy Advance was conceptualized in 1998, but the technology was so far ahead of its time that they put it on the backburner and settled for the decidedly less exciting Game Boy Color.
By the way, the story behind Time Rift was that portals opened during the conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn, bringing several varieties of Byron into 2020. It was a fun art and writing experiment, finding different voices for the Byrons based on his early designs and the prevailing attitudes of that year. 1992 Byron is an angry, sarcastic little runt, 2003 is sleeker and a bit overconfident, and 1997 is worryingly shaggy but charmingly innocent and optimistic.
