Galen (often referred to as "Gale") is a recruit in service at the military base in Forge, Ironhart's Capital.
His roots are situated in the countryside, away from the stone city of Forge where a more rustic lifestyle reigns. He grew up on a farm with a few good acres of land, working the fields and tending to the livestock. When not working, Galen was absorbed into tales of adventure and heroes. His particular focus was a group known as the Ultima Knights who had saved the world as he knew it by casting away the "Dark God" Drasternius.
One such Ultima Knight, Barrett Wingfoot, was situated as General of the Ironhart base in Forge, and tales of his exploits in particular became Galen's particular favourites. Thus, he grew up with Barrett as a role model, driving Galen to train his skills, strength and endurance in hopes that he might one day join the military and become a hero himself - just like Barrett was.
Galen achieved his dream at 18. Despite his parents' protests, he left his quaint little homestead to work in the military as a footsoldier. While his parents thought him to be too young and naive to understand the sacrifices he was making, they couldn't argue when the boy offered to send a large cut of his wages in service back to his family to help keep them afloat.
When Galen arrived at the academy to train and prove himself worthy of recruitment, he caught the eye of Barrett Wingfoot himself. Barrett took the boy under his wing, and sees to his training personally. To this day, no one really understands why Barrett was so keen on the boy...
