hey guys!!! so i love! chinese food! take out or going out wokking doesn matter i love it!!! <3 but recently this week i was curious what would sushi taste like? okay so! personally i dont eat sushi for 2 reasons the first one is becaus its raw fish and the second reason is that its 80% rice and i cant eat rice becaus it gives me seriously bad constipation but i do can take a bite or two but i cant over do it so any way i was curious its a very iconic food and most members of my family including my grandma loves it ',:3 so i whent to my favorite supermarket and got a container with mixed sushi becaus i wanned to taste it even i cant eat it i still was curious to taste it and well honestly only the soy sauce and the giniri which is the slice of salmon on top of the rice was delicious the rest of it was incredible fucking DISGUSTING oh god it was horrible most of it contained tuna and i fucking hate tuna XS and the seaweed rolls where the worst one oh my god why do people like this stuff? it tasted like somebody rolled up rice and tuna between the skin of a trout! and incase you wondering what is a trout its a fish! it tasted like raw fish skin https://visspeciaalzaakdehaan.nl/wp-content/uploads/202... so yeah while i was spitting everything out my cousin philip was laying back in my desk chair enjoying the sushi and laughing his ass off as i gagged into the trashbin by the way i tried wasabi......againe *long story*....its like the most horrible spicy condement out their i mean it smells like ammonia!??? and one tiny crumble is enough to burn your tongue it tasted like super concentrated spicy mustard oh my god why do people eat sushi!?!? D:) https://media.istockphoto.com/id/892432362/photo/portra...
I prefer the basic roll like you mentioned (usually called nigiri.) The ones with seaweed are indeed an acquired taste. I like them okay, but they're not my favorite. One thing about sushi is that where you buy it and who made it makes a difference. Have to disagree on you completely about wasabi though. I love the stuff. I love how it burns and how it cleanses your pallet.

well i do admit supermarket sushi would not be anything compared to restaurant stuff but i dont have a restaurant like that in my reach ;p and wasabi really? well knowing you i can imagen why you like it :p but i gues it depense on everybody their taste difference :3

I love cooked fish, and I enjoy freshly-made rice too, as long as it is served hot, and is not dried out.
But, I don't like sushi. The few times I tried sushi, it was cold, and had raw fish and other unidentified raw things in it. Raw fish smells like spoiled yeast infection soaked in dumpster water, and tastes nasty too!!

I think it's because you don't get used to the taste of Sushi, it happened to me and I didn't like it, but when I tried it on another occasion and with more variants, I started to like it, even Sushi doesn't need to have fish Raw, it may also have other proteins.

Yes, it has been delicious for a while, and yes, the chicken is cooked before putting it with the Sushi, apart from the fact that there are different fillings, those are variants that they invented outside their country of origin, in addition to the shrimp and salmon It is ideal because it can be eaten both ways.

Yes friend, there is also a simple version of Sushi called Handroll, generally it can have chicken, cream cheese and avocado but also other variants and it is easier to eat.

Well...to begin with you bought it in a supermarket and not in a restaurant. I wouldn't expect quality from supermarket sushi, in fact I kind of hated the sushi my grandmother once brought from a train as she used to take this special train. But its not comparable at all to the quality of restaurant sushi. So please keep that in mind, it also depends on how one makes it and how fresh it all is. I like fresh wasabi but some of the pastes are rather awful too. I didn't have sushi in ages though. Was many years ago last time...before I became homeless during covid.

you got homeless during covid!? also i do admit that supermarket sushi might be not as great as restaurant quality but the problem is here is not a restaurant close by to try it and the only restaurent i usually go to that has fresh sushi is also out of my reach and its all you can eat its were i go out wokking :3 but still i wanned to just give it a try you never know i could have loved it for all we know :3
Yes I did. at the start of 2021, that's when they passed some bad laws over here that allowed it to happen. Of course because of covid the owner back then didn't pay hypothecary so they came to empty the flat, etc, it was a real mess.
Then at some point started renting with my mom (later in separate flats). And then I got into nasty situations, got homeless again and spent a long time hopping from accomodation to accomodation while having to have tests on covid and other stuff until landing into the hands of this owner/landlord that we had problems with, he is greedy and because he's former accomodation(which was nearly destroyed at one point by drunk ukrainians) he charges too much also. But my partner doesn't want to move from this environment anywhere else because its close to nature in a mountain ribbon valley.
But this and other reasons is why I regularly need help from other people and kept asking for donations here. Fortunately there are a couple of people on this site that keep supporting me for the time being. I wouldn't make it without them. :/
that restaurant sounds fine, I think they have better sushi than what you tried and maybe they could advise you/explain what is what or even get you different sushi for your taste maybe, as indeed there are many different types, some entirely with vegetables without fish etc...or with mango slices inside and other variations. When I lived in cities there were usually restaurants with sushi around, so I could have it now and then. Frankly here in the mountains I only of one asian restaurant for the whole region and I am not sure if they have any sushi actually.

I suppose if that town is not very big then it makes sense if there's just one restaurant. On the contrary places like Prague had Asian restaurants around almost every corner, ok that is exagerration but even like each district has multiple etc, or had, before covid at least, I imagine some of them went bankrupt since. "On Reasonable"? I guess you meant unreasonable, but yes that's true really.
Well I hope you will enjoy whatever you'll try next...in that restaurant.
I just assumed that maybe there would be more restaurants in your town. When i lived in the netherlands there were 3 to 4 asian restaurants in that town in particular. Or maybe it counted as a small city. Not a lot of space in the town but a lot of people per square meter, a lot more than in the czech republic, I suppose netherlands and belgium might be a bit overcrowded. I only tried one of them btw and we never had sushi there either, and I am not sure if they even had it to be honest as I let my partner pick and order eveything up front.
