Hummm...ok this fall into the "interesting" category. Are you going to keep working on the design or is this getting close to what you saw in your own imagination.

Oh, this isn't from my imagination. Gef was a real haunting from 1931-1945 in the Isle of Man. I'm dedicating this year to a deep-dive on the case and reviewing (and hopefully collecting) all the literature I can obtain.
The description is found in the 1935 book Haunting of Cashen's Gap, which has received two re-prints in the last few years. Last year there was even a movie about the case called Nandor Fodor and the Talking Mongoose. Charming film, not accurate in the least to the events that happened.

Nice. And now that I think about it I DO kinda remember hearing about this at one time. It was a while ago but ya I did. And thanks for the info. Gonna have to try and watch that at some point and read the article as well. Thanks again. :D

These are exactly what most people would depict Gef as; including myself, a golden mongoose. Funny thing is that Gef didn't claim the mongoose title until it was suggested by a retired sailor. Gef at first called himself a weasel. The description of a flat face is the puzzling aspect...
Unless you consider the shapeshifter aspect. People who claim to have encountered such creatures always state that they never quite get the animal shape right.
Love seeing these. Thanks!

To be honest, I don't know what to think about the whole story. I'm pretty skeptical when it comes to anything "supernatural" but I have seen my share of weird stuff. The most logical explanation would be the family made it all up to get attention and other witnesses were pulled into a mass hallucination. But who knows? Maybe it was an alien or a glitch in software or our so-called reality.

I agree that it was mostly a hoax, though Voirrey (the daughter) went to her grave saying Gef was real. I am fond of the story for what it is: An interesting fairytale.
