Getting in some last minute Donkey Kong December, just to keep up the tradition. This time, I set my sights on Swanky Kong. Much like with Funky, this was a character I took far more liberties with as canonically he's just another DK clone. As said before, the Kong Family is in desperate need of more species besides gorillas or chimps, so for Swanky I chose the proboscis monkey. Something about the big nose and barrel body with gangly limbs just made the perfectly humorous silhouette for the role of a cheesy game show/carnival barker mini-game host!

Sad as I am to admit such a thing, I borrowed a bit from the TV series, putting a bit of Bluster Kong into Swanky. I wanted to lean more into an ego-centric foil that's more interested in his status than anything. A sort of Wario to DK's Mario; he'll help, but only if you do something for him and has on more then one occasion helped the Kremlings for his own personal gain! I guess I just found the concept of Bluster to be fun, it was just unfortunately used in that terrible show! (I also tossed in a little reference to the classic cymbal monkey doll, which is an iconic monkey-related thing I'm shocked has never entered into DKC!)

And that's all I have for this year -- I know it's a bit under whelming, only giving you one, mostly forgotten Kong, but honestly, I was lucky to get this done in time as is. This was just an idea I've had sitting in my mind for a long while now that I really wanted visualized because I thought it was funny. That said, if there's any other Kongs or even Kremlings for that matter you'd like to see me draw for next year's Donkey Kong December, let me know! Until then, see all you funky monkeys next year!
