I did this a few weeks back for FurFright's Book of the Dead charity auction. I wasn't actually there, but I hope it was helpful to the book's auction. :)
So I decided to approach this with a bit of nostalgia in my heart of times long past when I used to go trick-or-treating as a kid. I usually went with my older sister or oldest brother, and one year I went with this kid who lived across the street from me. It was awesome and it was probably my first experience going outside and wandering around without any sort of family around. So I took my good friend TJ and made him my childhood friend for this piece (the bunny on the right is me, lol). Though my neighborhood didn't look anything like this, but whatever. :P We both were reminiscing about how we missed that awesome feeling of trick-or-treating as a kid, so that's how this piece came to be. :D And I dressed us as pirates because pirates are cool, lol.
This painting was a learning experience, just as all my attempts at digital painting are. I posted some progress work on my Tumblr, if anyone is interested in going to look. Anyway, I do believe I've finally found a painting technique I'm mostly comfortable with. I've been struggling with it for years now, and I've never once used the same techniques twice. But I think I'll stick to how I did this painting and see where it takes me for now, when it comes to 'finished' stuff like this anyway.
Happy Halloween, everyone! If you go partying or something, stay safe and don't drink and drive. :D
