So, i mentioned in my last post that Serena had served along side James and thought I would elaborate further:
In the Wolfen Empire where Serena and her family live, all able body adults are required to serve after graduating school, or turning eighteen if one ends their schooling early. One week after graduation, typically following a day of heavy partying called 'Pre-deployment Day,' they must report to the nearest enlistment facility.
Every cadet is given several aptitude tests to determine their suitability and then sent off for basic training. This training compliments the training they must perform in school, such as rifle training. Afterwards they'll be deployed to serve for one year.
As bad as that may sound, most of these compulsory soldiers serve their year seeing little to no combat. Usually they are deployed to the north, the Rinus Confederacy boarder, and safer areas, freeing more experienced, enlisted soldiers for the front lines with the Feliniad Kingdom.
Serena and Katie never saw combat during their time. Lorelei saw only light fighting with 'pirates' near the Elenor Republic's boarder. James saw more than most, rotating from the East coast base where he and Serena served together to the front lines a couple of times during his year.
This is near the end of Serena's service, posing for a calendar she and few others on base were planning on selling around the base. Unfortunately, word soon got to the brass and Serena found herself with several nights of foot patrols and extra PT as a result.
