Gaiaverse Lore: Setting
While I have described pokemorphs, it seems I have forgotten to expand on the world itself. I know, silly me. This document should fix that issue.
The Gaiaverse in brief:
The Gaiaverse is a chaotic mix of our world, the pokemon world, and much of it’s own things. Many of the myths and legends of our world, from the holy grail, to Dracula, to King Arthur are all true, but with twists from this insane world. Within this mad, unpredictable universe, the unknown and known blur, the mundane and the eldritch. This place is utterly insane.
This universe’s Arceus is not the sanest being out there, the chaos and craziness it exudes is what helps make the Gaiaverse the Gaiaverse. If one wants an example of how crazy Arceus can get at times, look to the Elder Scrolls character, Sheogorath, daedric prince of madness.
Physics do NOT always work as they do in our world, due to the many glitches in the Unown used by arceus to create this world. For example, it is entirely possible to MOVE a hole, as if peeling a sticker off a surface and putting it on another surface. It is illegal in most countries to do this to vital infrastructure such as manholes, and can usually only be done by those who have mastered an art unique to this world, known as GORP(Gateway Orifice Relocation Practice), a strange but sacred, secret art.
Magic and Technology BOTH exist in this world, due to the psychic membrane Arceus has that wraps over the entire Gaiaverse. Magic taps into this membrane, alongside exploitation of the many glitches of this world, GORP being one, and alchemy being another, in this case, using what would otherwise be useless and mundane objects to, using objects imbued with the psychic membrane of this universe to create alchemical serums or even transform objects, such as one of the most familiar forms of alchemy to us, turning lead to gold.
Many mythological creatures from our world’s myths also exist here. Angels to bring balance and order to Arceus’ madness(though they themselves have become a threat with how templaric they can be.), Demons, who in this world were a prototype to humanity that were banished to the distortion world as they rebelled against Arceus to protect Giratina, led by Lucifer, much like in our world’s christian canon. Vampires also exist, the result of an alchemical potion to make one immortal at a steep, grim cost.
Notable angels include Aegaris, an archangel who is a zealous warrior of arceus and known to desire order. However, he is obsessed with order, to the point he has grown to RESENT pokemorphs for their chaotic ways, and humans for not being orderly to the standards he feels best, turning him to seek intrusive and extreme measures. Played a role in Giratina’s banishing, and the banishing of humanity’s prototypes and his fellow angels who dared protest the banishment, both of whom were turned to demons.
Overall, this world is where the extraordinary often is ordinary, the bizzare is common, and where chaos, action and adventure all meet. There’s never a dull moment, exciting or calm.
Humans:
Humanity itself is quite different in the gaiaverse. For example, much like their pokemorph cohorts, humanity is quite tough, be it humans who have trained enough being able to shatter rocks, humans surviving jumps that would leave a human from our world crippled, if not dead.
Part of what led to this path of evolution was the fact that they were often locked in brutal struggles with prehistoric pokemon, be it packs of Lycanroc, giant Luxray, or hunting herds of mamoswine. Through natural selection, humans with either great physical strength and resilience, intense cunning, or special powers, often connected to the membrane, were the ones who survived
Humans able to tame these beasts, a risky and time consuming task, often gained a valuable partner in the process, one who could help in many ways, be it companionship, hunting assistance, or aiding their villages.
To many of the more open and less blood-honor tribes of humans, the coming of pokemorphs, as reflected in many wall murals came as a peculiar surprise, especially as curiosity took over, and said creatures were invited into the tribe.
A common image among Homo Sapiens living in northern africa, western europe, and central europe, shows what appears to be a representation of meteors streaking through the sky, before the pokemon mysteriously appeared
Some tribes, like those who’s paintings were found in site #85323, near Geosenge, showed were much less welcoming, often coinciding the appearance of the meteors and sudden appearance of the pokemorphs with a believed doomsday. Tribes like these were cautious or even hostile towards pokemorphs, even turning away their fellow tribesmen for contact with one.
Some, like the cannibalistic tribes seen in fossils from the mountains in northern europe, known for it’s scarcity of resources, saw the pokemorphs as a threat on their food chain and hunted them, and anyone who allied with them. This was a losing battle, and by 6,000 BC, many of these cannibal tribes, due to rampant inbreeding, being picked off by pokemorph and human alliances, and diseases from cannibalism or inbreeding, died off.
Writings by pokemorphs, known for their distinct wavy style, show that pokemorphs did get turned wary of humans following attack by the northlanders.
Similarly, some of the pokemorph groups saw themselves as the new rulers of the world, ready to obliterate humanity, seeing humans as mere food and fellow pokemorphs as total fools who should die with them. However, many of these groups were defeated too by joint human-pokemorph attack, a symbol of the teamwork the two groups have
Geography:
Geography in this world greatly varies from land to land, from the crown tundra’s frozen peaks, to Orre’s badlands, to the jungles of Alola. These are some of many known biomes, just on Earth/Terra alone.
Weather in the gaiaverse can in itself be unpredictable, such as a SUDDEN HEAT WAVE… that only lasts a day but the one day it is there, it is an unpleasant and awful time, a time where ice cold lemonade becomes hot lemonade, a time where eggs can be cooked on sidewalks. More unscrupulous companies take the opportunity to sell air conditioners for extortionate prices, to make a tidy profit. This often results in the leaders of such companies having to hire armed guards to avoid the wrath of those who are infuriated
Another strange one is rain… but with magikarp. Some find it alarming, others find it DELICIOUS.
And alongside this, pokemon, pokemorphs and humans find ways to thrive in all.
Notable geographic areas include Mt. Coronet, the tallest mountain in Sinnoh, and where an ancient place of religion, the spear pillar, sits on top of. Some say it leads via a stairway to Arceus.
Another notable area of interest is the fanged reef, a deadly ocean in the atlantic. Known for it’s hostile life, pokemorph or pokemon, deadly geography, corals that glow an ominous blood color, eternal storms, and horrific, powerful waves and whirlpools
Society and Government:
Much like in our world, the Gaiaverse has an entire variety of government types, but all have various differences. For example, many governments have ministries or departments for pokemorph affairs, league battles, magical practice, alchemy, oddities, automatons, and more.
For an example of how, while similar the governments of the Gaiaverse are to ours, they are also different, let’s use their world’s USA as an example.
Much like our world, the USA is a federation with a presidential system, and is also a constitutional republic. However, the two-party system we have hasn’t been used since the Civil War. Usually, every election, there are 6 major parties to vote for, and one by one they drop out until two remain for the election.
These 6 major parties are:
Vanguard, a far right extreme party, usually popular with those who have ultraconservative sentiments. Won the 2016 election but their reign was short lived and full of idiocy. May fade due to low party numbers. Their representing color is yellow.
The Old Party, a center-right party for those more conservative leaning, but not blindly extreme. First major win after founding in the 70s was the election of Ronald Reagan. Replaced the Hardnail Party after Watergate. Their representing color is orange.
The Progress Alliance: A left-leaning party that focuses on social justice, environmental issues, and workers' rights. It is a prominent advocate for progressive policies and social equality. Their color when represented on a political map is green.
The New Horizon Party: Another left-leaning party, but with a more centrist approach. They emphasize compromise and finding common ground while still pushing for progressive change. Their color when represented on a political map is blue.
The Unity Party: Positioned in the center, this party aims to bridge the gap between the left and right, promoting unity and bipartisanship. They prioritize pragmatic solutions and cooperation. Their color when represented on a political map is purple.
The People's Coalition: A socialist party advocating for workers' control of the means of production and a more equitable distribution of wealth. While not as influential as the others, it provides an alternative perspective in the political landscape. Last won a presidential election in 1974. Usually forms a coalition government with the Progress Alliance and New Horizon parties. Their representing color is a deep red.
Current President is President Lydia Diana Laguardia, a female Persian pokemorph who became president in 2020, running on an independent platform. Her government has a major coalition government between all parties minus Vanguard, with notable amounts of members in the Unity Party, the Progress alliance and the New Horizon party.
Her Vice President is William al-nashim, who was once a Unity Party senator representing Unova before his ascendance to Vice Presidency.
Senate Majority Leader is Mr. John Rolt(N-OE)
In the parentheses, N stands for New Horizon Party, OE stands for Orre, so he’s a New Horizon Party Senator representing Orre.
Law and punishment, while much like ours for humans, can be different for pokemorphs. For example, there are special cuffs that nullify most pokemorphs powers, and prisons that specialize in pokemorph prisoners in the gaiaverse. A common slang term for a pokemon being imprisoned is called “getting clinked.”
A pokemorph’s sentence can range from 30 days on to 50 years at most in many countries. This is because not only are pokemorphs relatively important for society and their absence can affect certain places, but because pokemorph prisons are often QUITE punishing, the law taking full advantage of the enhanced durability pokemorphs have.
A sentence can be affected by, if there is a victim of a violent crime, it was a human or pokemorph. The level of violence can also affect it.
For example, a pokemorph who SA’d a human and killed them after, with no remorse whatsoever may face a LONG time in prison, far past the standard 50 years.
Meanwhile, a pokemorph who assaults another pokemorph in a fit of rage will be sentenced to around 60 days and be forced to undergo anger management.
There are also a lot of notable laws in the gaiaverse regarding pokemorphs, some common ones, done for their safety and the public’s, include:
No combative use of powers outside of officiated battles or a defensive situation.
No flying over restricted areas, such as government zones
No rushing across highways on foot if one has super speed
No mega-evolution or dynamaxing outside of legally sanctioned areas
Impersonating a government official or military official, be it through illusion or transform, is illegal
Pokemorphs who haven’t reached sexual maturity, known as Green-ears, are subject to curfew for their own safety, and have limits to where they can go
All pokemorphs who wish to live in cities must undergo training as prescribed by the city to control their powers
Psychic types in government buildings must wear mindblockers, to avoid detection and dissemination of sensitive data
Technology and Magic:
Both technology and magic coexist in this world, with Technology sorted into these five fields:
Engineering: In this world, engineering encompasses a wide variety of applications, from mechanical and civil engineering to Aerospace and Environmental. It is marked by significant advances in construction, innovative designing, and grand feats of architecture.
One of the most worshipped engineers to ever live was Galarian engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel, known for many of the feats he is in our world, such as founding the Great Western Railway, but also known for having created Wyndon’s last stand: Big Ben, Defender of Galar, a colossal steam-powered titan that disguises within the clock tower itself when not in use.
Computer Sciences:
In this world, Computer sciences is an essential and rapidly evolving field, playing a pivotal role in everyday society. It covers a wide rance of applications including AI development, software development, programming, and cybersecurity.
Cybersecurity is another crucial component of this branch of technology, with constant upgrades to this branch of the technology being crucial. Firewalls, encryption, and counter-hacking are all major parts of this. Porygon, with their ability to cross into cyberspace, are notable for being able to literally destroy malicious code when sent in.
Chemistry:
Chemistry is a vital part of the sciences in the gaiaverse, often interacting with alchemy. Chemistry involves the listing and discovery of various chemicals and elements, such as gold, iron, sulfur, and uranium. It often involves mixing chemicals to find reactions, both safe and dangerous.
Magitech:
a field unique to the pokeverse, a fusion of technology and magic to create tools that harness the energy of both worlds. It covers a broad range of applications from enchanted vehicles, to ward technology, to even the use of the universal membrane as a power source(ongoing research).
Biotechnology: Biotechnology involves a fusion biological science and technology. This includes advances in medicinal technology and genetic modification. It often includes such tasks as improving agriculture, pharmaceuticals, and overall medical care.
And Magic separated into these five fields:
Alchemy:
a powerful and beloved field, that blends the scientific and the mundane, the known and the unknown. Transmutation, potion making, and the search for the world’s secrets are the greatest foci of alchemy.
Dark Arts:
One of the most controversial fields, known for it’s use of dangerous curses, potent and powerful spells, and powers relating to the raising of the dead. It is a highly regulated practice due to how dangerous it is, though for some reason, an amount of pokemorphs that may be considered alarming often study it for one reason or another, including just because they find it cool. This can include pokemorphs as young as 3.
Spellcasting:
the most common form of magic, the use of incantation, rituals, gestures and runes to manipulate the fabric of the gaiaverse. It has various different schools of magic, be it elemental manipulation, clerical services, and divination
GORP(Gateway Orifice Relocation Practice):
a unique and secret art unique to the gaiaverse, which involves the manipulation of rifts and gateways to relocate objects, including spatial movement, teleportation and even dimensional hopping. It is a sacred and protected knowledge, safeguarded by few.
This practice has many uses, such as moving doorways without having to reconstruct a building, and even a form of teleportation that solves a theory that one’s matter is destroyed and rebuilt when one teleports.
Cuisinomancy:
The result of magic and culinary arts combining, often combining mundane foods with magical forces, or otherwise, mundane cooking with magical ingredients. Practitioners of this art are well known for how legendary their meals can be, and for creating things out of magically enhanced food. Some known magnum opuses of the gaiaverse include: The grand lasagnademon, a giant, majestic beast, created by the passionate hand, it both nourishes and acts as a defender, and the grand cake of reality, a cake containing the secrets of the universe. Best savored and eaten in small doses less you go mad and die from the knowledge. Food created with cuisinomancy remarkably never goes bad or gets contaminated for a long time, with those made by masters of this art seemingly never going bad and beckoning to be devoured.
Notable tech and materials in this world:
One significant invention is the Pokeball Storage System that is seen in every single pokemon center. A mix of programming by Bill [REDACTED], a notable genius who has around 12 degrees, including a masters in programming and one in engineering, brought this system to life in the Kanto region in the year 1995. Fellow like-minded individuals would help turn this system into the global storage system used to this day. This system also allows pokemorphs who happen to have trainers to store their pokeballs to avoid unwanted exploitation at the hands of those who wish them harm. Feral pokemon deposited into this system are released into special areas of land, completely safe, while their pokeball remains stored away.
Pokedroids, artificial pokemorphs, with a mixture of soft and hard parts to allow them to be both durable and interface friendly. These machines have since become a major part of everyday life in Galar. They are powered by special, near-unhackable AIs.
Pokeballs: A special device useful on both pokemon and pokemorphs, invented in the days of the Hisui expedition. Both are able to leave as they wish or will. The pokemon or pokemorn can enter via shrinking down and being pulled into it, then being converted into data form held within. This same method was reversed to make a latter entry on this list, Porygon. Within each pokeball, thanks to magic, is basically a residence of it’s own. Traditionally, pokeballs are made from the woody rinds of apricorns, and affixed with special stones known as tumblestones to make them work, but most modern ones are made of metal and powered by electronic components.
The Eiffel Tower and it’s revival project, the Prism Tower are considered masterworks in the field of architecture, the Prism Tower having been built from where the Eiffel stood before it’s annihilation during Hell Week, a cataclysmic event in WWII.
Mechas, large, walking machines, which have uses in both military and civilian fields. Civilian fields include construction, demolition, logistics operations, and warehouse sorting. Can have any number of legs from 1 to, as of current world record, 12.
Porygon, a pokemon that, in what can only be described as a mix of magic, and some of the most advanced coding in the world, is coding and polygons made flesh. Many serve companies in the field of cybersecurity, often going into computers to attack viruses at the source or serve arrest warrants for cybercriminals. It’s evolutions are similarly involved.
Reflectite, a peculiar material, both man made and found naturally in a crystalized form, that can be used to coat vehicles and constructions to make them resistant to pokemon and pokemorph attacks.
Golurk: Golurk a prime example of magitech in action, with a body built by ancient, wise engineers and architechs, and powered by magic. They were built as guardians and warriors, but have since gone to integrate into normal society
AI development: AI development has led to more efficient, smarter, more autonomous pokedroids. A majority of them, to the surprise of those who feared a robot uprising, prefer working over anything, seeing no reason to rebel.
Mystic Bronze: Bronze enchanted with magical powers, able to hold charges of magic and incredibly useful in alchemy and spellcraft. Bronzong and Bronzor are both made of this material.
The Flying Sandwich: a masterwork of cuisinomancy, a once ordinary sandwich blessed with the ancient food arts, having now grown to a considerable size, able to fit even heavy pokemon and pokemorphs such as aggron. It never gets contaminated nor does it go bad, but it IS edible, making it a good source of nourishment. It takes on the flavors of the original sandwich it once was.
Flora and Fauna: Alongside much of the canon pokemon and respective pokemorphs,alongside the many plants and berries seen in the canon pokemon world such as gracideas, many other unique creatures reside in this world. Here are some examples:
Sentient Lawn Gnomes, an accidental alchemical creation, known for their mischief and strange noises, most notably, a shout of “HOOH” before committing mischief or teleportation. Being a victim of a Gnome’s prank is also known colloquially as getting “gnome’d”.
A more terrifying, strange creation of this world is the misprogrammed artichoke dip, often created accidentally or on purposes by a scientist exposing artichoke dip to high yield gamma rays. The creation is known to be incredibly aggressive and incredibly dangerous, and most are usually kept in steep pits to keep them away from others and as security or an execution method by those in crime rings who happen to have one.
Found deep in the heart of mystical caves, peculiar stones known as singing stones are known to emit melodious tunes when touched. Each stone has its own unique song, and they are highly sought after for their healing properties and the emotional resonance of their music.
Glowing orbs of light that appear on moonless nights in secluded meadows. It is believed that making a wish upon a Radiant Orb will ensure it comes true, provided it is made with a pure heart.
Among the more unique of the flora of this world are eternal flowers, crystalline flowers that are excellent conduits of magic, notably,much like in canon, King AZ of Kalos’ floette weilded one rather than the usual meadow blooms most floette use.
Another unique one are blastpods, pumpkin sized plants that create a volatile fluid. Inedible. Fluid can be converted into petroleum and other chemicals as needed but the process can be dangerous.
Cultural Diversity:
Much like our world, the Gaiaverse is an incredibly diverse place, with various cultures and cultural norms, which often vary drastically between humans and pokemorphs.
Paldean, and all it’s Central-South American offshoots, are one of the most used languages in the world alongside Galarian.
Languages in this world are quite complex and at times alien from ours. For example, while galarian is pronounced like english is, it is written differently. See how the language appears in pokemon sword and shield for examples. Note that, while sort of recognizable, it is also quite alien in appearance.
Pokeverse cultures, while often sharing similarities, are also often quite different.
One of the things that would be most jarring to someone from our world is the fact that native american and native australian populations are considerably higher than in our world, due to intervention and negotiation, alongside many of the various acts the government did in our world never happening, be it manifest destiny as a brutal conquering force, the thwarting of the more exploitative plans of a particularly twisted rail magnate who was exposed as a huckster and corrupt con, who’s actions only benefited himself and his toadies, and much more. One thing notably jarring would be the lack of our world’s mount rushmore, as the natives were not driven off that land.
Economy and Trade:
There are multiple different economies in the world, and thus currencies as well. Metals and fuel are both major sources of economy, with Mystic Bronze, good ol’ steel, petroleum, and food all being major money sources.
As time has gone on, pokemorphs have been more and more important to the economy, including being reliable workers during the industrial revolution, often alongside humans and machines.
Shed aggron shells are valuable to the point nations have warred over grounds where Aggron are known to shed, as it is some of the purest steel in the world.
Some Pokémorphs and pokemon possess natural affinities towards agriculture, allowing them to cultivate crops and raise livestock efficiently. For instance, the strong hooves of rhyhorn help till the soil, while Tauros' muscular build makes them perfect for heavy lifting during harvest season.A stoutland or boltund, anthro or feral, is good at protecting livestock. Many grass type pokemorphs have a natural affinity towards gardening and farming, allowing them to assist in the procuring of agricultural goods.
Religion and Beliefs:
There are multiple religions in this world, and here are a few major ones practiced in civilization.
For example, the enlightenment church replaces Roman Catholicism from our world, complete with the various complex rituals, power over humanity in europe, and a pope. Humorously enough, incidents involving pokemon and pokemorphs attacking the pope to steal his hat have necessitated the invention of a popemobile-like vehicle to protect the pope not just from assassins, but from the would-be muggers. One common ritual is a pilgrimage to the holy see, and a grand illumination, where a special device reflects the sun’s light to a crowd, bathing them in the sun and thus the lord’s light. Traditionally, one is to pray before each meal and before bed, and one is to make a sign of the cross either when entering the church or praying for someone who is dead or in poor health. Many trainers of this faith ask their priest for a blessing before their adventure into the world. On August 27th, a vow renewal is done to ensure the bond between human and pokemorph, this bond often being done by the pope and a major pokemorph leader.
Reformism is stand-in for protestantism, and much like how protestantism is a break away from catholicism, Reformism is a breakaway from the Enlightenment Church, for many similar reasons, including corruption within the enlightenment church, exploitative measures, and more. In the gaiaverse, another few major complaints included how they treated pokemon 10 years prior and the sudden change of mind the Enlightenment Church had, seeing their newfound acceptance of pokemorphs as ingenuine.
A third variant to this world’s version of Christianity, common in eastern europe, is Orthodox enlightenment. Unlike either of it’s western counterparts, there is a belief the messiah is the true leader of the church, and whoever is currently in control is basically keeping his seat warm for him for when he returns. As such, Christmas among humans, especially in Russia, is usually a quiet celebration, while the new year is the true holiday. The Gleaming Empire which worshipped it, this world’s Byzantines, had a grand empire spreading from Greece all the way through Anatolia’s rolling hills. It is one of the older variants, having risen to power when Rome collapsed.
Yasjud and it’s various forms represent the various forms of Islam from our world. Much like Islam, followers of Yasjud traditionally pray 5 times within the day, once at dawn, once at midday, once in the afternoon, once at sunset, and once at night. The holiest book in Yasjud, the Khutba,is much like our world’s Quran, and is considered VITAL to the religion.
The story of the Kabba goes much the same as in our world. However, after putting it’s corner back on, the prophet Muhammed comes into conflict with a strange being, Deoxys, However, in a display of tolerance and kindness, rather than slay the creature while it is weak, he saves and heals it, and it helps him at the battle of Medina. It leaves earth once the prophet passes on into the afterlife.
According to most non-extreme forms of Yasjud, pokemorphs were formed from the elements of the world as a fellow race and potential assistants to humanity. While their customs are strange, outlandish and even potentially heretical, most forms of Yasjud generally agree that pokemorphs are to be tolerated and not interfered in, as they are not human, and thus not to be forced into the same adherence. Only the creator of this world may truly judge them.
Most pokemorphs, to identify themselves in Yasjud-majority states, are often painted with intricate patterns of deep green on their bodies to show that their presence in an area is sanctioned.
Mubarir Yasjud is quite similar to Sunni Islam in our religion, most followers of Yasjud adhere to this variant, around 85/90% of them. This makes it one of the world’s LARGEST religions, commonly seen in south/southeast asia, the middle east, and parts of north africa.
Another religion, much like Judaism, is the Covenant of Forever, or covenance, who’s worshippers and people are known as the bĕriyth . They trace their origins to a covenant with Arceus itself. This covenant is considered unbreakable.
The covenance claims that humans and pokemorphs are equals, united in a sacred covenant under Arceus.
The religion has many different holidays of it’s own within it, includng Yom Hadar, a day to celebrate the inherent beauty of the world around them. A day of rest, prayer, and care for the planet.
Hakhel is a time for those in the bĕriyth community to gather, where learning and meals are shared, and collaborative projects are done to strengthen the bonds of unity.
Matzol is another notable ceremony, a time to remember their ancestors’ journey and liberation. Symbolic foods and unleavened bread are on the menu as challenges and triumphs are celebrated.
The scroll of beginning is a sacred text in this religion, which contains teachings and stories that guides those in the covenant through their spiritual journey.
The Edenic expanse is a promised land sought out by them, a glorious eutopia and the ultimate destination for the faithful.
Tragically, this community had the unfortunate “luck” to see through the lies of Aegaris, leading to him consistently bringing his wrath upon them to bring them many woes in hopes of destroying them. Be it having kingdoms wish to purge them, dehumanized by horrific propaganda, or slaughtered by horrific regimes such as the Third Reich. The worst of these were the agonies suffered under the reich during the Loschen plan, which was a plan to annihilate them from the planet.
Sanatana Dharma, or just Sanatana, is this world’s equivalent to hinduism and a common religion within a large peninsula in south asia. with all the ancient legendaries and their fragments being seen as personifications of the gods. Thre anquestionable religious authorities, and no governing bodies, prophets, or any binding holy book. They can be polythiestic, pantheistic, monotheistic, monistic, agnostic, humanist or atheistic. Pokemorphs, know locally as Ajeeb-log are celebrated as creations of the deities, brought to this world to bring a more positive chaos than the Rakshasa, one of amusement and joy rather than death and horror.
Aside from Dharma, the Gaiaverse also harbors ancient religions such as Celtic Druidism, Norse Mythology, and the various Native American Religions, folklore and mythologies. While some practitioners continue to uphold these traditions unchanged, others blend them with modern beliefs to create unique syncretistic religions. .
One peculiar one within this world is a transhumanist religion known as the Order of the Augment, a machine cult that believes there is destiny in combining machine with organic. Rituals include the first augment, undertaken when someone new is involved, where they are sedated and their first cybernetic part is put in.
Pokemorphs themselves have their own religions, and they are INCREDIBLY diverse in how they go about with them, this can range from offshoots of the above religions, to worship of the legendaries, to worship of outworld entities that have made their way to the gaiaverse, to complete and utter nonsensical chaos.
The Great Veil:
One secret organization brings hatred and threat to this world. This being the Great Veil, an organization so cruel even GHETSIS, one of the most infamous criminals of the 21st century, despised them. They are a cult of rich people and aristocrats from all over the world, responsible for many of the atrocities that have scarred this world, led from the shadows by the archangel Aegaris, who wishes for control of humanity, and from there, control of pokemorphs on earth, and an everpresent threat. They have existed for over 3000 years, and may have played a role in the war that would lead King AZ to build the ultimate weapon.
This group has responsibility in countless notorious affairs, some of history’s evillest, man or pokemorph, have had connections to this group, be it due to their hatred of the tolerance of the world, be it them being an unwitting pawn in their plans, or be it them being puppets to the group, choosing this path for it serves them just as well.
The group was created by one of the archangels, Aegaris, who despised the chaos of the world he saw, and saw the mortals as all inferior to angels and mere fools, and wanted to establish order at any cost, even if human or pokemorph has to be shackled or oppressed, even if wars must be waged, even if countless must die to achieve this. To Aegaris, the only true end is control, order, at all costs.
This organization is incredibly clandestine, the few mortals who know of it are aristocrats, warlords, rich men, generals and their own agents, hand picked by Aegaris himself.
Some examples of atrocities they committed include creation of despotic regimes, empires, and slaver states to establish strict forms of control. Most infamously, after their plans to use empires to create a powerful order collapsed after the first world war, they, using separate entities and alliance, manipulated the course of this world. To this end, they used their connections, be it in the east or west, to manipulate things so that multiple notorious governments could come into power, be it via financially funding coups, or via propaganda that manipulated the humans and pokemorphs in these world in various ways, be it using their desire for more power, a desire for revenge, or a desire for simple bloodlust.
To this end. this led to the rise of the Italian Imperium, Nazi Germany, and the Solar Imperium(Japanese Empire),. And with their rise and ambition to conquer, the second world war and it’s horrors would begin, and unlike in our world, due to the technology of this world, reach a breaking point as nations, allies and axis, began using Arceus’ own children, the legendaries, or in this case, the fragments/their forms that walk the earth, to power weapons after capturing them.
This would lead to a cataclysmic moment known as hell week, where the usually cheerful and chaotic Arceus was blinded by fury. It initially sought to wipe humanity off the face of the earth and reset pokemorphs to punish them… but after learning of the angels’ role in the creation of the Great Veil, and their betrayal of Arceus itself in the name of control…. Arceus punished the angels, Shattering Aegaris’s wings and chaining him to a holy steel cross, and using grand chains to bind heaven so no angel but those who can slip through the holes in the chain can ever leave, the kingdom of heaven left in ruins by his rampage.
Aegaris, enraged by what happened, then swore revenge on Arceus and a desire to overthrow the creator of all, and used the smallest of the angels to stealthily mess with the world as Arceus, heartbroken, left for who knows where.
Since Hell Week, the great veil’s actions have been much less grandoise, with many of the major threats usually instead being villainous groups like Team Rocket, or cosmic invaders like Ultra Necrozma.

The Ancient war:
Three thousand years ago, a great war breaks out that devastates much of europe, africa and asia. The war is ended when one leader, King AZ of Kalos, loses his floette in the war, creates a device to revive her, and then, consumed by madness or revenge, uses the device to DEVASTATE ALL OF EURASIA
The bible is translated: the way Irish monks translate the bible alters the course of this world’s history with a different translation of Leviticus 18:22. In this translation, homosexuality is not a sin, but instead, pedophilia is. Several priests are exiled after being exposed for their role in such a disgusting crime.
1866: The impeachment of Andrew Johnson and his subsequent mysterious death. Unlike in our reality, the senate successfully impeached Johnson, even his fellow southerners turning against him after the discovery one that could doom them all just as well, the Golden Hands. Mysteriously, after being removed from office, Johnson would be found dead in his home multiple months later, reduced to a husk alongside his entire family. Reparations go as Lincoln had wished them to go, and wounds eventually heal.
[The Golden Hands was a group that was created by the great veil. Of course, no one outside the veil knew this. And after Johnson was impeached, having failed to put many of the discriminatory practices he did in our reality in, as punishment, the archangel Aegaris killed him and his family.]
Environmental Issues:
There are quite a few notable environmental issues in the gaiaverse, both created by technology and by magic
Notably, due to irresponsible alchemical creation and dumping, cursed rain, a dangerous phenomenon, can happen. This rain kills plantlife and feral pokemon, and turns pokemorphs and humans into horrific beings known as rainwalkers, mindless and vicious creatures.
Pollution is also a major concern, harming humans, pokemon, and pokemorphs. It has also lead to the unintentional creation of pokemon such as trubbish, grimer, revavroom, and koffing, created via unethical practices in waste disposal. Trubbish and it’s evolution were born from the great trash heap of nimbasa in the 1950s when a company poured particularly dangerous chemicals and radioactive materials into the dump, rather than hire professionals to dispose of the hazardous waste.
There is also risk of a power station such as the Kalos Power Plant going awry. It is actually due to the potential risks from it’s connection to multiple satellites that necessitates it being on the barren route 13, to prevent any forest fires a stray bolt of solar energy could cause.Coal mines are rarely used unless necessary due to the fear that the coal dust will blow the entire place up, and Nuclear Power, while powerful, has it’s own drawbacks.
Invasive feral pokemon also provide a dangerous risk to ecosystems, be it via destruction of plant life, lack of predators to balance them out, or exploding populations, a major example being Yungoos, once native to india, growing in population in alola. Ironically this was meant to control rattata populations that had adapted to Alola after becoming invasive themselves.

In conclusion, the gaiaverse is a unique world, full of intrigue, danger, and adventure. Fun, chaos, terror, and discovery all await. A world where chaos, the eldrich, and the extraordinary are all everyday and normal, and a beautiful world made by a crazy god. However, the great veil casts a grim shadow over the Gaiaverse, showing even in a crazy and beautiful world like this, despotism and brutality can both be omnipresent.
