Percy and Jake: Easter in the Forest
(Disclaimer: while this story may be set around Easter, it will be put out months after Easter. Apologies for the lengthy delay but I promise y’all it’ll be worth it.)
We begin a few days before Easter, set amongst a busy warehouse currently occupied by a group of bunnies. We pan in to see the ever-so-jolly Easter bunny, sitting in his office, chomping on a bowl of one of his favorite vegetables: carrots. Alongside him: a rather fun and energetic blue bunny named Mizu, who was recently named his assistant, given his wiliness and high performance to get the job done right, making sure everything was set for their big weekend. The Easter Bunny, who’s become a staple in the forest for decades, was trying his best to ensure a fun weekend without any mishaps, as has been the case in previous years.
Easter Bunny: “Ooookay, let’s see what we got. How much have we’ve gotten done so far?”
Mizu: [checks his tablet] “Well, all the eggs look like they’ve been accounted for. So are the chocolate bunnies, and also the baskets. I gotta say these baskets look pretty good.”
Easter Bunny: “Hmmm, okay. I just want this year to be perfect. No screw-ups like the last few years. Things have to be as perfect as they could be.”
Mizu: “Sir listen, I’m sure they will. I know the last few years haven’t been good, but so far we’ve made sure this year will be one of the most memorable ones out there. After all, it’s the fun of it that matters.”
Easter Bunny: “Oh of course. I mean, I am the Easter bunny, I live for creating memories. That’s what my father did, and I plan on carrying on the family tradition. And sooner or later, I’ll pass that down to a lucky bunny that I trust.
Mizu: [in his mind] “Oooooo, I wonder if it’ll be me. A dream job I would definitely live for. I know for a fact I’ll make a good Easter bunny. So many possibilities.”
Easter Bunny: “Whoever it’ll be, they have to have the energy, the will, and the power to endure such a difficult task. But something I am sure somebody will be able to enjoy.”
Mizu: “Oh of course. There’s a lot of good candidates here that will gladly take over as Easter bunny should they be given the chance.”
Easter Bunny: “Exactly. But listen, it’s gonna be hard to find some potential candidates but I’m sure it’ll work out. Anyways, back to planning.”
Just as the two were about to continue going over preparations, they get a visit from a mysterious bunny-like creature. His name is Wyatt, and he’s a very chill and oftentimes energetic fella. He’s a hybrid of a European bunny and a Fox squirrel, or a squnny, a rare species known to float around the forest.
Easter Bunny: “Come in.”
Wyatt: [opens the door] “Ummm, excuse me. I was wondering if I could speak to the Easter Bunny real quick.”
Easter Bunny: “Oh of course you can.”
Wyatt: “Oh that’s good, sir. My name is Wyatt Dudley and lemme just say it is an honor to meet you. I was sent here through this letter you sent me a few weeks ago.”
Easter Bunny: “Oh yes. I remember now. A few select bunnies from around the world showed up for that event I talked about. It’s amazing that you’re here early. The event doesn’t start til this weekend.”
Wyatt: “Well umm, hehe, I’m actually here visiting a friend of mine, so I figured I’d stop by and get used to the surroundings.”
Easter Bunny: “Hmmm, that sounds pretty good. Like my father always says, it’s always a good idea to get used to your surroundings.”
Wyatt: “Yep. My friend’s uncle says the same things. He comes from a travelling circus family, and he’s always talking about the different stories that came from it. And I mean he tells a lot of stories.”
Mizu: “Hey that’s good. Your friend sounds super amazing.”
Wyatt: “Oh yes he is. He is by far one of the most amazing friends I could ever have. I have a lot of friends that I enjoy talking to, but he’s by far the most fun. Every time I’m on his side of the forest, we enjoy spending a lot of time together, playing games and fooling around, doing all types of fun things. He’s just the ideal best friend. I’d be more than happy to introduce him to y’all if y’all want.
Mizu: “That’d be awesome. He sounds like somebody I would love to get along with.”
Wyatt: “For sure. Along with all our other friends, one of whom is a delivery dragon.”
Easter Bunny: “Delivery dragon, huh? That sounds like a good occupation.”
Wyatt: “Yes sir, it is. He’s very proud of what he does. He just recently got stationed back home so that means I get to see him every once in a while.”
Mizu: “That’s awesome to hear.”
Wyatt: “Matter of fact, I was heading back out there whenever I got done with my tour. Maybe I can introduce you guys to them.”
Easter Bunny: “Hmmm, of course. I just love meeting all kinds of friendly faces, but we have a lot of preparations for Easter that we need to get through. It’s a very busy time for us here and I would like every single one of these plans to go smoothly. Maybe next time.”
Mizu: “I don’t mind. I mean, I’m going on break pretty soon so maybe I can tag along.”
Wyatt: “Oh of course. They won’t be far from where we are, so we should be able to spot them within a short distance.”
Mizu: “Oooo neat. This is gonna be fun.”
Easter Bunny: [clears throat] “As much as we like to continue discussing plans to meet new friends, we have our own plans that we need to get to. Come on, Mizu.” [to Wyatt] “Nice of you to drop in, ummm…what’s your name again?”
Wyatt: “Wyatt, sir.”
Easter Bunny: “Oh, ok. I’m not the best in memory, so that’s why I have my friendly assistant, and my trusty tablet. Without them, I don’t know where I’d be.”
Mizu: “He has a lot to remember, so that’s why I put together a list of what he needs to keep up with.”
Wyatt: “Gotcha. But listen, they should be making their way down here later on today, so maybe if you guys aren’t that busy, you can actually meet them.”
Mizu: “Ooooh, that’ll be pretty good. I can’t wait to meet them.”
Easter Bunny: “Sounds good to me. We’ll have to wait and see how they are. We always tend to make a good first impression whenever we meet new people. But enough about that, we got some work to get back to. See you later.”
Wyatt: “Okay then. Good luck.”
As the two bunnies left the room, Wyatt stared around and was in awe of what he was surrounded by. All the golden eggs on display, pictures, numerous recognitions, and the like. Recognitions that the Easter Bunny was super proud of, along with the full support of the bunnies who put in their time and effort to make sure Easter is a holiday worth celebrating.
Wyatt: “Wooow, these are just amazing. I know for a fact this bunny is super proud of himself. It’s gonna be an honor to serve next to him one day. Although being half squirrel has its advantages. Like for real. I wonder if I can get some trail mix on the way back. I’m really craving some right now.”
Meanwhile, back at Percy’s house, Percy and company were already getting their preparations together. He and his friends were in the kitchen, already decked out with bunny decorations and streamers galore, playing around with egg kits.
Marshall: “This is so fun. It’s been a while since I colored Easter eggs.”
Percy: “Hehe I know right. It’s always fun when we can all get together to do activities like this, almost like we should do these more often.”
Jake: “Speak for yourself pal. As someone who travels a lot, I would give anything to stay put and hang out with y’all more.”
Percy: “I mean, you’ve already come back home, so that’s a good thing, ain’t it?”
Jake: “I know, I’m just saying.”
Percy: “Hehe, it’s not everyday we get to do these types of hangouts. You most likely find us doing something that special during the holidays, but outside of that, it’s a whole different story.”
William: “Yep, that’s always the case. By the way, is it me or are these eggs not coloring properly?”
Percy: “Ummm, I’m not sure. Did you follow the instructions properly?”
William: “Of course I did. For some reason it must not be working out for me.”
Marshall: “Huh. That’s strange. Did you make sure the water was warm enough for the color tabs?”
William: “Of course. I mean, it clearly says that, doesn’t it?”
Percy: “How warm?”
William: “Not that warm, but good enough so that the tabs will dissolve properly. At least that what it says.”
Percy: “Lemme see.” [picks up William’s cup] “Hmmm, from the looks of it, it looks like the tabs didn’t dissolve that well.”
William: “Ummm yea I can see that. But I don’t get it, I did everything right, what could’ve went wrong?”
Jake: [pulls out a thermometer] “Ummm, I think your water must’ve cooled off a bit. It’s supposed to be at or around 50 degrees in order for it to dissolve properly. This says it’s around 40.”
William: “Huh? That can’t be. I could’ve swore I checked before I dropped the tabs in there. That’s impossible.”
Marshall: “Either that or there must be too much water in it.”
William: “Wait for real? That’s strange.”
Percy: “Yea bud, it says you need about ¼ cup of water. Looks like you might’ve exceeded that.”
William: “I mean, y’all know I’m not that good at measurements, even with these measuring cups.”
Jake: “You and me both man. This coming from someone who has to weigh boxes from time to time.”
William: “Or as someone who didn’t do that well in chemistry.”
Jake: “I weren’t that bad. It just got too difficult at times, especially with all the calculations and stuff like that.”
William: “Hehe, of course it did. That’s why it wasn’t one of my favorite classes.”
[The phone rings]
Percy: “Hello. Oh hey, what’s up Wyatt. How’s the tour so far?”
Wyatt: “It’s going alright. Managed to meet the Easter Bunny and his assistant. They seem pretty nice, especially the assistant. He looks like someone I could actually get along with. He’s an adorable blue bunny and appears to be very friendly.”
Percy: “Hey that’s good to hear. As busy as that place can get during the Easter holiday, it’s a wonder they’re able to function the way they are.”
Wyatt: “Yep. Anyways, I didn’t get a chance to fully introduce myself but I did mention to them that they could meet you whenever y’all show up. You’ll really love talking to them.”
Percy: “Oh of course we would. Matter of fact we’ll be over there a bit later. So maybe if they’re not that busy, we would definitely love to meet them.”
Wyatt: “Hehe, sweet. See y’all in a bit.”
Percy: “Alright bunny buddy.” [hangs up]
Jake: “Who was that?”
Percy: “It was Wyatt. He says the tour of the bunny factory went alright. He met the Easter Bunny and his assistant and pretty much gotten used to the area. Oh yea, he also says we can meet them whenever they’re free.”
Marshall: “Oooooo. That’s neat. I love love love love bunnies so much, especially ones who provide us with such joy every year.”
Percy: “Hehe, yea. They’re pretty neat, especially Wyatt. Yeah I know he’s half squirrel and everything, but he still has the heart and soul of a bunny. A brilliant friend who’s chill and understanding, and always there for whenever you want somebody to talk to, regardless of what they’re doing.”
Jake: “Exactly. That’s the same thing we say about you, even though you’re more red panda than raccoon.”
Percy: “Hehe, I know right. I enjoy my wah status so much. Almost as much as my trash panda status, if you know what I mean.”
Jake: “Oh yeah.”
Percy: “It just makes me who I am.”
William: “Oh absolutely. Not too many pancoons come across here but regardless they are super awesome to be around.”
Percy: [blushing] “Hehehe. Awwww, stop it fellas, you’re making me blush.”
Marshall: “Hey it’s true, buddy. You’re super fun to have around. You’re always coming up with these fun activities, you're full of energy, and best of all, we think alike. One of the things that makes you who you are.”
Percy: “That is true. I do enjoy our time together. And I also appreciate these nice sentiments. You guys sure know how to make someone happy.”
Jake: “Anytime bud.”
Percy: “Hehe. Anyways, shall we return to these eggs?”
Marshall: “Oh, for sure.”
Everyone would then return to their egg coloring activities. Some time would pass and we would later see the Easter Bunny and his assistant Mizu back at their headquarters, continuing to pinpoint everything that has been done and what else should be done to prepare for this year’s Easter celebrations.
Mizu: “Ummm sir, I’m pretty sure everything’s been set by now.”
Easter Bunny: “Are you sure? Because it doesn’t look like we’ve finished everything. There’s gotta be something we’re missing, anything.”
Mizu: “Yes I’m sure. Listen, everything’s gonna be alright. Just remember those calming exercises we’ve talked about. Take a second, breathe, and try and figure things out.”
Easter Bunny: “Aaaah there’s no time for all that. We’ve got to get things together. Easter’s only a few days away so we need to make sure everything’s perfect.”
Mizu: “Ummmm, can someone please help us out here?”
Bunny: “On it.”
Mizu: “Thanks. I just hope the boss doesn’t lose it before we can actually finish up with the preparations. This is gonna be such a big challenge.”
Just as the blue water bunny was trying his best to get his boss to keep himself calm, Wyatt shows back up, this time with a few of his fellow bunny friends, some of who were his roommates.
Wyatt: “Hello again.”
Mizu: “Oh, hey again bud. Hope you’re finding your way around here.”
Wyatt: “Pretty much, yea. I’m not walking in at a bad time, am I?”
Mizu: “Eeeh not really. The boss gets like this every year, so it’s nothing new.”
Wyatt: “Oh, I see. The pre-Easter jitters huh?”
Mizu: “Yeah. Though they usually happen within two weeks of Easter actually approaching. Either that or the stresses of being the head honcho.”
Wyatt: “Gotcha. Say, mind if I ask you something?”
Mizu: “Sure, what’s up?”
Wyatt: “Ummm, don’t think I told you guys this, but ummm, I’m actually half bunny. As in half bunny, half squirrel. You think anyone will have taken notice?”
Mizu: “Oh, ummm. I don’t think so. Why you ask?”
Wyatt: “Well, the fact that I have this bushy squirrel tail, and also I’m developing a craving for nuts right now.” [sniffs] “No seriously tho, I’m wanting some delicious walnuts. Wait…” [keeps sniffing] “I KNEW THERE’D BE SOME HERE!” [takes a handful]
Mizu: “Hehe, now I see what you’re talking about. I mean, I don’t think nothing’s wrong with a few quirks. Look at me, I have water powers. It’s something I find rather cool. But listen, I’m pretty sure you’ll be treated just like any other bunny, regardless of whether you’re a hybrid of another animal, or just a regular bunny like the rest of my friends here.”
Wyatt: “Yeah I guess you right. One of my friends is half raccoon, so I know exactly how it feels to be two animals in one. Surprising that that’s the case since there’s only a few of us squnnies out there. Mostly with me and my older brothers, as well as a few of my cousins. And a roommate or two.”
Mizu: “Oooo, nice. One of your friends is half raccoon huh? Interesting.”
Wyatt: “Oh believe me, it is. He’s also half red panda, so he enjoys apples almost as much as a regular red panda. He also grew up in the circus, a brilliant writer, and most importantly, one of the most amazing friends I could ever ask for.”
Mizu: “Wooow. I have got to meet him.”
Wyatt: “You’re in luck because he and some of our other friends are on their way over here.”
Mizu: “Ooooo nice. I am so looking forward to this.”
Wyatt: “You’re in for a treat, my bunny buddy. I have a feeling you’re gonna love meeting them. They’re some of the nicest friends I’ve ever gotten to know.”
Mizu: “Hey that’s good to know. I’m always up to meeting new friends. I’ve especially had fun meeting you. You seem like a fun bunny to talk to. Ummm, half bunny that is.”
Wyatt: “Hehe, well I mean, that’s a pretty interesting thing to say about me. I hardly get that sentiment but I appreciate it. I’m quite chill for my part, but other than that, I’m easy to get along with. Thank you so much for the kind words, ummmm…don’t think I got your name.”
Mizu: “Oh right, call me Mizu.”
Wyatt: “Gotcha Mizu. Thanks again.”
Mizu: “Anytime squirrel bun.”
Just as the two bunnies were about to make their final rounds, Percy and his friends showed up with a plethora of Easter eggs, in various colors and sizes. Upon arrival, they were in awe at the various preparations that the bunnies put together. The only thing they may not be in surprise for, is the Easter Bunny’s mood whenever he makes his way back.
Wyatt: “Oh, hey guys. Looks like you made it alright.”
Percy: “Yep. I mean, unless you count the traffic we had to endure. Other than that, it weren’t too hard to find the place.”
William: “Well, for the most part it wasn’t hard to find. Assuming you’ve had to duck through numerous detours and road closures, along with so many flashing lights and the like. And then get stuck in traffic for God knows how long.”
Wyatt: “Ouch. Must’ve taken y’all a while huh?”
Percy: “Pretty much yeah. Just the usual afternoon traffic but still, it was relatively slow, but at the same time painful to get through.”
Wyatt: “Yeah, I getcha. Anyways, got somebody here you might like to meet. This is Mizu, the assistant I was telling you guys about.”
Mizu: “Oh, hey there. You must be the friends Wyatt here has been telling me about.”
Percy: “Yes we are. Percy’s the name, along with Marshall, William, and my favorite dragon pal Jake.”
Jake: “Hehe, that be true.”
Mizu: “Oooh nice to meet you all. You must be the Percy I’ve heard so much about.”
Percy: “Hehe I sure am. I gotta say you look pretty awesome.”
Mizu: “Hehe, thank you. I hear you’re also a hybrid. I think that’s pretty neat.”
Percy: “Ooo thank you. I think hybrids are pretty awesome creatures because not only do we have the traits of two different animals, but we’re also quite fun, at least that’s what I think, given how I’m half red panda and half raccoon.”
Mizu: “Interesting. I just so happen to have a friend who’s half raccoon as well. I know for a fact you two would make good friends.”
Percy: “Ooo I would love that. I love meeting new friends, especially other raccoons. He sounds like a friendly fella.”
Mizu: “Oh he is. Very friendly. And he’s someone who’s willing to listen to ya and play games and joke and all that. Oh yeah, and he loves mac and cheese.”
Percy: “Wait really? That is so awesome. I do enjoy the cheesy goodness of yummy in your tummy mac and cheese. Next to spaghetti, it’s one of my favorite foods. Well, that and also pizza.”
Mizu: “Hehe, I’ll be sure to let him know that the next time I see him.”
Percy: “Yeeeaaa. Anyways, where should we set up?”
Mizu: “Right over there will be fine.”
Percy: “Alright, thanks.”
In that moment, the Easter Bunny would return in the same mood he was in before Percy and company showed up. There’s no telling on what mood the jolly holiday bunny would be in when his blue bunny assistant introduces him to his new friends.
Mizu: “Hey again boss. Everything alright?”
Easter Bunny: “Yea, I hope so. Just a few days out from the big day, and so far it feels like something, anything could happen. Other than that I’m good.”
Mizu: “That’s good. Ummm, some new friends showed up while you were away. They’d love to meet you, and I have a feeling you’re gonna love them.”
Easter Bunny: “Oh really? Take me to them then.”
Mizu: “I’d be happy to. They’re just setting up some of their items near the tables.”
Easter Bunny: “Hmmm, sounds pretty good.”
[The two bunnies make their way to meet Percy and company]
Jake: “Well, I gotta say, everything here look mighty good.”
Percy: “Hehe, I’ll say. These bunnies really did a good job putting all this together. I have a feeling that this will be a fun Easter.”
Jake: “Absolutely.”
[Mizu and the Easter Bunny show up]
Mizu: “Oh, thank you so much. We’ve put in some extra time to make this year special. And you have this guy here to thank.”
Easter Bunny: “Oh, so you must be the friends my helpful assistant told me about.”
Marshall: “Woah. You…y-y-you must…you must be…”
Easter Bunny: “Hehe, yes I am. The ever so mighty Easter Bunny. The celebrator of all things Easter, one of the most revered and respected bunnies on this side of the forest, and among other things, an enjoyer of not only friends, but also everyone I come face to face with.”
Percy: “Ooooo, it’s a real honor to meet you, good sir. We’ve heard way too much about you and everything you have to do to ensure that Easter is well celebrated and fun, not to mention memorable.”
Easter Bunny: “I am glad to hear that. Yes, that is correct. I do everything in my power to make sure everyone has a fun and memorable Easter, every single year. From the Easter treats to the decorations that you see in front of you, it is my duty to see that Easter Sunday is an amazing one. With a little help from my trusted bunnies of course.”
Marshall: “Ooooo, interesting. In case you couldn’t tell, Easter is one of my favorite days of the year. Well, along with Christmas, and Thanksgiving.”
Easter Bunny: “Oh yes, I enjoy Christmas as well. The joyful wonders of the season, the sights and sounds of the decorations, and all in all, opening up presents and enjoying the fun times you spend with loved ones. Surely one of my favorite holidays. And plus, I know Santa personally.”
Percy: “Wait, really?”
Easter Bunny: “Yep. We went to the same school together, and were each present when we were elevated to the top ranks of our respective jobs.”
Jake: “Well I am surprised. That is quite the history you two have. I like it.”
Mizu: “Oh it is. He’s told me these stories so many times. I’ve practically memorized it by now.”
Percy: “Wow. That is amazing to know. You know, I wonder what it’s like whenever you two get together for special occasions.”
Easter Bunny: “Hehehe, it’s pretty much the same: just us getting together and reminiscing about the good old days. Other than that, we just enjoy each other’s company.”
Marshall: “That is so awesome. It’s just like when all of us get together, especially during the holidays. They’re just so special.”
Percy: “Hehe, you said it bud.”
Easter Bunny: “Anyways, lemme get back to the preparations. Gotta make sure everything’s up to par. See y’all in a bit.” [walks back to the warehouse]
Percy: “Say, I don’t think we got your name, ummmm…”
Mizu: “Oh, sorry bout that. I’m Mizu.”
Percy: “Ah, okay. You seem like a nice bunny, by the way.”
Mizu: “Thanks. Not sure if you could tell, but I do have some pretty awesome water powers. See this symbol right here. It’s Kanji, one of the main symbols of the Japanese language. Every time I use my powers, it lights up. Watch this.
[Mizu begins demonstrating his water powers by triggering a nearby water fountain to turn on, at which point he points the water that came out of it in the direction of a water pitcher]
Marshall: “Wow. That’s pretty neat my friend.”
Mizu: “Hehe, it’s quite interesting. I was telling Wyatt earlier about how unique it is to have such powers. You never know when you might need to use them, but it’s always handy in case of certain water-related emergencies.”
Jake: “That’s neat to know. I think we need someone like you around the post office. Oftentimes someone forgets to put water in the coffee pot. And trust me, I am a strong believer in an all-important cup of joe a day.”
Percy: “You don’t wanna deal with Jake when he hasn’t had his coffee. Trust me, I’ve known him since we were kids. We’ve learned pretty much everything about each other.”
Mizu: “Oh okay. Hehehe, that makes sense.”
Jake: “Yea I can get in a pretty bad mood without that coffee, especially given how I’m a delivery dragon. We gotta keep our minds sharp and accurate at all times, whether in flight or by delivery van.”
Mizu: “I see. That must be fun that you’re friends with a mail dragon.”
Percy: “Hehe it sure is. I’m good friends with a lot of his coworkers.”
Jake: “Yep. Percy pretty much knows everyone there.”
Percy: “Indeed I do. I mean, they don’t mind me being there, especially if it means I can get to see my best friend do his job.”
Mizu: “Pretty much what I do on a daily basis. You outta see the friends I have that work alongside us.”
Percy: “Woow. That’s actually pretty neat.”
Mizu: “Trust me, it is. Especially when you live right near each other. I’m not kidding, our houses are right next to each other. Almost like condos.”
Jake: “Neat. Maybe we can visit there sometime.”
Percy: “Hey, I’m in. I love visiting friend’s houses. We should make it a point to do so the next time we see you.”
Mizu: “Hehe, hey I would love that. I’m sure everyone would be happy to meet you. You guys seem pretty nice so far.”
[Upon agreeing on a date to visit their new friend, the trio somehow come across a cry of dispair]
Percy: “Huh. I wonder who that could be.”
Mizu: “Yea me too. Should we go check it out?”
Percy: “Oh of course.”
[The eager pancoon and company race over to realize that the Easter Bunny was on the verge of a nervous breakdown]
Mizu: “Ayo? Everything okay, boss?”
Easter Bunny: “Does it look like everything’s okay? Just look at this list. It’s a disaster.”
Mizu: [looking at his boss’s list] “Ummm…I don’t think I see anything wrong with this. If anything I’d say things look good on my end.”
Easter Bunny: “Are you sure? Take a closer look. Right towards the end.”
Mizu: [reads even further] “Huh. Don’t think I’ve seen this before.”
Jake: “What does it say?”
Mizu: “Take a final, thorough check to make sure everything’s perfect and orderly. At last check I think we did. Unless you think there’s something missing.”
Easter Bunny: “Ummm, I don’t know. What do you think is missing? Any of one can chime in if you’d like.”
Wyatt: “Ummm, no offense but would we be able to pinpoint exactly what we’re looking for? Not trying to sound disrespectful or anything, but we’ve only just met, so it would take a moment to figure out exactly what you’re looking for.”
Mizu: “Trust me, it won’t be too hard to figure that out. You just have to look very closely.”
Wyatt: “Aaah okay. That’s true.”
Percy: “Sounds like a challenge. And I’m all in for a challenge. Let’s see what we can do.”
[Within a matter of minutes, the crew thinks long and hard about what the Easter Bunny meant by something was missing. They eventually come up empty. That is…until Marshall takes a hard educated guess and makes one little discovery. Something he might’ve noticed the moment he first saw the oftentimes jolly bunny.]
Marshall: “Say. I’m noticing something different about you.”
Easter Bunny: “Really? I wonder what that is.”
Marshall: “Yea. Weren’t you wearing a smart watch when we first saw you?”
Easter Bunny: “Oh I sure was. I was against the idea of having one at first but then I got used to it because I can use it track how much exercise I get. And I’m somebody who takes exercise very seriously.”
Percy: “Hehe you and me both.”
Mizu: “Yep. This is a regular thing for him. And by that I mean every single day. It was my idea to get him that watch. He’s enjoyed having it and has had it on ever since.” [takes a look at his boss’s arm] “Say boss, I could’ve swore I saw it earlier. Where could it have gone?”
Easter Bunny: “Huh? What are you talking about?”
Marshall: “That’s exactly what I was trying to point out. I saw it before and now it’s not there. Almost like it just vanished.”
Easter Bunny: “Wait, what??” [looks at his wrist] “AAAAAAAAA!! Where could it have gone?! Where is it, where is it?! Oh my God this is just horrible! Just horrible!”
Percy: “Not sure. But ummm, where was the last place you had it?”
Easter Bunny: “I honestly don’t know. I bounce from place to place every day, especially when preparing for Easter. It couldn’t have gone that far.”
Jake: “Interesting. Then it sounds like we’ll have to start checking all the rooms here. Chances are we could have some luck, assuming it’s nowhere else.”
William: “For sure. And luckily you have a pair of freelance detectives standing right in front of ya.”
Easter Bunny: “Huh?”
Percy: “Yeah, me and my friend here do this thing where we pretend we’re detectives and help solve cases in whatever capacity we can.”
Easter Bunny: “I see. Well whatever you call yourselves, help me find my watch, because it means a lot to me, not only for my sanity but also my health.”
Mizu: [to Percy and William] “Please do whatever you can. I just hate seeing him like this.”
William: “On it. Percy, you know what to do.”
Percy: “I sure do. Pancoon and Kenflower: freelance detectives are on the case. All of us will check a few rooms on each floor. Not sure what we’ll come up with but hopefully an answer will come before us. That smartwatch could not have gone far. We should be able to locate it in a matter of moments.”
Easter Bunny: “Let’s hope so.”
[The search begins. Percy and company would find themselves looking through the first floor, while Mizu and the Easter Bunny looked through the others. It took some time but at the end of it all, they come up empty.]
Marshall: “Well ummm, we’ve searched every room in this building and so far nothing. Not even having multiple people in tow could help out.”
Percy: “Huh. I was for certain we’d be able to locate it. I guess we couldn’t. Unless…we could track the location of it.”
Mizu: “Oh yeah. I don’t know why we didn’t think to do that sooner.”
Percy: “Any of y’all got a tracker on your phones?”
Mizu: “I do. It took me a while to convince him to add his watch to my tracker. You never know when it’ll come in handy.”
Percy: “My oh my, you’re quite the helpful bunny huh.”
Mizu: “Hehe, I do what I can.”
[Mizu turns on the tracker and within a matter of seconds, they are able to locate the Easter Bunny’s smartwatch. And it just so happens to be in a place that none of them even considered to check]
Mizu: “Ummm guys…I think I found it.”
Percy: “You have?”
Easter Bunny: “Really? That’s great. Where is it?”
Mizu: “Hehe, you’re gonna be surprised as to where.”
Easter Bunny: “What what? Tell me, show me.”
[Mizu reaches into his boss’s bag and notices the smartwatch was literally inside it the whole time, sending everybody into a moment of surprise]
Wyatt: “Huh?? Okay, now that would’ve been the last place I would’ve thought of.”
William: “Neither would I. But hey, that’s good to hear.”
Easter Bunny: “Ummmm…I guess I must’ve overlooked myself. I end up doing that sometimes. And by sometimes I mean a lot, especially when you’re running back and forth inbetween different places.”
Percy: “Interesting. By the way that can happen to me as well. I’m somewhat of a busybody myself.”
Easter Bunny: [while putting his watch on] “So nice to have this back on. I gotta say this watch has not only become a health tool for me, but it’s also become my go to for everything I might need to know, including whatever notes I take and my day in review. And also daily reminders about what I should do during certain events, including Easter. Which reminds me, we need to finish up the preparations. The celebration begins in a matter of days.”
Mizu: “Something I can agree on.”
With no time to waste, the crew continued their preparations. The Easter Bunny along with the other bunnies of the Easter factory made sure they had all the finishing touches in place so that once that Easter celebration began, it’d be one for the ages. As for Percy and company, they helped out as well, by bringing together their own festive treats and favorable decorations, some that would fit the Easter theme. It was only a matter of time before the real fun could begin.
Jake: “I gotta say, you and this bunny brigade sure know how to put an Easter celebration together. Quite the amazing job you guys did.”
Mizu: “It’s what we do, my blue dragon buddy. One of the reasons why we enjoy Easter so much. From the candy to the festivities to everything inbetween. And ummm…also an unofficial day for us bunnies, if I do say so myself.”
Wyatt: “That I have to agree with. I may be half bunny but I have the full instincts of one.”
Easter Bunny: “Oh yes. It’s quite amazing where everyone can get together, enjoy what’s in store, and also appreciate all the hard work me and my fantastic staff do every year in order to give all of you the best Easter there could ever be.”
Percy: “And I will say it looks pancoon-tastic. Hehe just made that word up.”
Easter Bunny: “Huh. I like that. You’ve got quite the spunk there my friend. Have you ever considered a leadership role?”
Percy: [giggles] “Well ummm, I did do a few circus shows in the past, so it’ll be something I might look into. Sounds like an awesome idea tho.”
Marshall: “Hehe you should. You’d make an awesome leader. In a sense you already are one.”
Percy: “Awww, thanks buddy.”
Mizu: “I can tell you guys enjoy each other’s company.”
Percy: “Of course. We enjoy all our fun times together. Some of them I’ve been proud to have known for a while, especially my buddy Jake. We met when we were kids and have been good friends ever since. And I’m lucky enough to meet such amazing people and see all the amazing things they do. I was raised to be a caring friend to all and that’s something I’ve carried with me throughout my life. And just so happen that I’ve been lucky to meet you guys and welcome you into my friends circle. You two seem like a good bunch."
Mizu: “Awwwwww. That’s so nice of you to say. I’m proud to call you guys friends as well. I’ll definitely look forward to hanging out with you guys again soon.”
Jake: “Hey, we’ll be ready for ya.”
Easter Bunny: “You guys are welcome into our factory anytime. You might catch us chilling, or preparing for the next Easter celebration. Or maybe a little bit of both. Whatever the case may be, drop in whenever you’d like.”
Percy: “Consider that done.”
Easter Bunny: “Sweet. Anyways, we better get ready. Just a few more days before the real party begins.”
A few days would pass and with everything already set, the Easter festivities were set to begin. Without hesitation everyone, including the bunnies that helped put this entire thing together, got in on the fun and complimented each other for all the hard work they put together and thanked their new friends for pitching in to help with the finishing touches.
William: “Well, I gotta say this is quite a nice party these guys put together.”
Wyatt: “Oh for sure. Our new bunny pals sure do know how to put a celebration together. Almost like we could be spending more time with them.”
Jake: “I know that to be true. Say, have any of you seen Percy?”
Wyatt: “Last I saw he and Mizu were near the water slides.”
Jake: “Water slides huh. Didn’t realize they had any put in but let’s check it out.”
[The crew walks over to where the water slides were. Percy and Mizu were seen having a little aquatic fun with the water bunny’s powers.]
Percy: “Oh hey guys. Don’t mind us, just having a little fun with our new friend here. His water powers are just too amazing.”
Wyatt: “Oh I’ve seen them. And I gotta agree, that’s some of the best water magic I’ve seen. You got quite the charm fellow bunny buddy.”
Mizu: “Hehe thanks. They come in handy in case of ummm…emergencies. Or for a little aquatic silliness.”
Jake: “Interesting. By all means, continue on. I love me some aquatic silliness.”
Mizu: “As you wish.” [activates his water powers]
Percy: “Yeah yeah. Feel free to join in. There’s plenty of room on this slide.”
William: “Hehe, don’t mind if I do.”
Jake: “Hey, wait up.”
[With that, the three friends along with a few other bunnies, as well as the Easter Bunny himself, got in on the fun]
Easter Bunny: “I gotta admit: this might be the best celebration we’ve ever put together. Basically tops the previous attempts we did. And we all gotta thank our new friends for helping us all out. Without them, I’m not even sure where we’d be. So much so that I’m making them honorary Easter bunnies.”
Percy: “Wait, for real?”
Easter Bunny: “Hehehehe, of course. You guys are quite the helpful bunch, and not afraid of taking up a challenge. Plus you helped me find my smart watch. I just can’t help but thank you all for bringing such amazing energy, wiliness to help someone out, and the best part: for being so nice and generous.”
Jake: “You are quite welcome. As we say, we do whatever we can to help out, because that’s who we are and will continue to be.”
Percy: “You said it, my bestest dragon buddy.”
Mizu: “Let’s just say that we’ve all become good friends. And I couldn’t ask for it more. I am looking forward to the many fun and adventures we’ll have going forward.”
Percy: “Same here buddy. Same here. Now, how’s about we keep this party going.”
[Everyone cheers in excitement]
As the fun continued on, Percy and company made note of what was clearly the most fun they’ve ever had on Easter, especially given how they’ve made new friends in the water bunny extraordinaire Mizu and the ever so jolly and friendly Easter Bunny, along with the many other bunnies that make up the eccentric staff at the Easter factory. It would surely be a day that Percy would make sure would be one for the books.
