And soon the light cast upon her serene face, which was immediately pinched with discomfort...
In a few moments, she had sat up and placed her hands over her middle, and easy to see why; her pregnant belly was just a bit too large for her waifish shape. Her doctor's warnings rang gently in her ears; 'Your species as far as we can see rarely has more than one baby, and you have two on the way... They seem a bit large, so if you feel any discomfort, any at all...'
She smiled and reached up to push her hair back gently... But the thought of the two young children curled in her middle quickly faded away, replaced by a soft and concerned frown as the kick to her inside hurt just a little too sharply... Her belly seemed a little too taut... Her body just a little too... tense. She contemplated this, going back over all the false alarms and fake contractions that she'd experienced over the past couple months of her pregnancy. She discarded them all quickly. This was a little too deep... The only question now was, when...? And the only answer she had was... 'soon'...
Sitting there in the early morning, listening to the birds twitter gently, she breathed... until another kick and another clench made her wince. A surge of excitement, fear, panic, and thrill went through her as something within whispered...
