(I could not agree more. It's okay not to like certain things. It's okay not to want to see certain things. It's not okay to be an asshole about it, especially when it's so easy to filter out unwanted content. Or, y'know, to just go about your day like a civilized person and leave people be.)

Don't mistake me. I still go to cons and I absolutely love furries as a whole, I just can't ignore their hypocrisy and I need to protect myself.

As someone old enough to remember the "Burned Fur" group trying to get conventions shut down in the late 90's, I'd say the tone and tenor are different but what you're describing isn't fundamentally that new to the fandom.

There are plenty of things I don't like seeing. Gore, death, rape etc. And I have to say some of the shit drawn makes me seriously wonder about the sanity of the creator or commissioner and if they are some sort of psychopath. Instead of attacking and trying to cancel said deranged person though I just block their content. What they like is not my business. Live and let live. It's what makes IB so great to me. I can avoid the stuff I don't like with a few steps. Sadly too many people like to be White Knights and try to champion issues they see with a community. Your opinion is not needed warranted or wanted. If it offends you so bad then avoid the said community by blocking their stuff from your account. Your are NOT going to change their minds. So live your life and control what you can.

Personal opinion obviously, but this issue is not generational, but more personal view, lack of understanding, and likely trolls as well that are like this. I've seen it more than enough times since I joined the community.

But that is not entirely accurate, next step would be them saying that tags and personal filters do not matter because the content itself is 'shining a bad light on the furry fandom'™ and they are so concerned about the public image of the fandom and that you should just leave because ever since they joined they are the self proclaimed public moral compass for acceptable fantasy content and you are in violation of that.
