It doesn't take Yami very much to make frienemies. Sol, Yama, Connor, and now adding to that list, Nero the veemon. Though he rarely has an opportunity to have other Veemon in his life since his twin brothers passing many years ago so having a relationship with Nero form is something Yami would certainly treasure. Even more so that he has learned Nero is very similar to him in so many ways one would think they were brothers. Yami is grateful he can travel to other Digital Worlds to meet digimon like Nero. So of course, in Yami fashion, to solidify their new relationship he felt in necessary to kick Nero's ass. Only... it's not just personality that Yami will find Nero has in common with him. Besides having the best hair in his Digital World, Nero is crazy strong. Yami can get real used to this.
