After finishing the last assignment, I ended up with a reference sheet for Agatha, of course, I would’ve loved to make a naked version of it without the armor, and include the description of her abilities, props, and bits of lore and info which I normally include in my own reference sheets, although for the purpose of the class I took this was enough.
Might come back in the future to take these 2 poses and make her naked, do a few more expressions, and add the actual lore and description bits to the image to make it fit the other reference sheets I made for my other characters.
Still, as it is right now, this one stands on its own quite well.
So, who is this character?
Her name is Agatha Von Cipher, and much like Rose, she is also a blue diamond descendant which means that despite being different species, both share a very distant ancestor back when the animal people in my world or “Hybrids” were all still humans thousands of years ago.
Agatha’s parents lived on an island dominated by a fanatical cult that likes to hoard technology from a bygone era and who are also set on converting their members in combat capable individuals or soldiers of some sort through harsh and rigorous training as they believe in an imminent alien invasion that is supposed to happen at any time now, which in reality has never happened so far even when some hundreds of years have passed since the cult was founded. These members are not allowed to leave the island unless on very specific assignments meant to either recover old technology or inquire about any leads on alien civilizations that might’ve come in contact with the planet in recent times, although they do act as hired guns every now and then for whoever manages to contact them in exchange for either resources or more old technology, they also send assassins out to track down and take down any deserters.
When Agatha was conceived, her parents made an effort to escape and cut ties with the cult as they had grown tired of the harsh treatment they received there, just like their own parents beforehand, this attempt failed however and both parents were killed in the escape attempt, leaving an infant Agatha at the care of other members of the group, all of which educated and trained her over the years to become yet another soldier among their lines.
Agatha was given her mother’s armour and sword when she was old enough to be able to wear it, and was led to believe that both their parents had actually died heroically while defending the cult’s ships on a nearby coast from raiders, she however, found her father’s diary that had been left behind in a hidden place on her home she happened to come across by accident, a diary that wasn’t meant to be left behind but that had to be forgotten during their escape attempt, and which revealed the truth of how both of them had actually died and their previous attempts at trying to get the cult to consider them to be part of the groups that were sometimes sent outside the island.
Shocked by this, she told all of this info to a close friend of hers who she also convinced to help her escape the island by helping each other pass the trials needed for the cult to consider them as part of the expedition groups that ventured off the island every now and then on assignments.
After a long while and by the time they became young adults, both of them managed to do this and were soon after sent along with another member to the mainland of a nearby country by request of a client that had hired the cult to rescue an individual from coastal raiders, both of them took the chance to desert and were forced to kill their third companion after failing to convince him to desert with them.
Since they didn’t report back to the cult and since the vital signs of the third companion had ceased, they immediately dispatched scouts to track them down now believing that both of them had been somehow captured by the enemy.
Agatha and her friend knew the scouts were sent and that they were probably either going to kill them as a safety measure to ensure they revealed nothing about the cult, or to “rescue” them and take them back to the island, their solution was to find the nearest nation and seek asylum with them.
Her actual story begins at this point and it mostly consists on her trying to make a living in any way she can and survive in the city that took her as a refugee, adopting their own “old west-like” culture despite not fully understanding it in an attempt to separate her own identity from that of the cult while also hiding and fighting against any assassins or other members of the cult that might cross her path.
Among the many things she did after reaching the city of “Epristan” was to enlist and work some time as a fire fighter to then move on to join the high-risk explosives department of the city that took her as a refugee, after a while she had a daughter (who is of course another Blue Diamond), and retired quite early to just sit back and live in her ranch as peacefully as she could, although certain events of the story she is in, as well as elements from her past drove her to pick up her weapons again to go out there and enforce some vigilante action on to certain individuals that messed with her retirement plans.
All of this means that she is basically in her mid-40’s by the time her main story starts, her daughter is around 19 by this point.
With that said, I will be using her in some drawings moving forward! I am glad to finally be able to reveal this character which despite already existing for more than 3 years now, had never been drawn before.
