The otter is Tabi's mother and this is her first appearance. Her name is name is Akiko and she is the adopted sister of Caiden's mother Cheryl. Since Akiko was adopted as a child, her and her husband decided to adopt as well and Tabi was adopted when she was a baby. Tabi's father will be revealed in a future picture.
