This fan art of Mickey Mouse as Steamboat Willie is in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of when Walter Disney and his brother, Roy, founded Disney Company.
The actual anniversary was yesterday on October 16th, 2023.
The cartoon, Steamboat Willie, was made five years after the founding of Disney Company, which was November 18th, 1928.
Steamboat Willie was probably the cartoon that was the most synonymous with Disney for a long time following it's release.
Back in the day, cartoons were released in movie theaters. There was no television back in that day and time. Most movie theaters back then had cartoon matinees on Saturdays, which was always popular with the kids.
