Okay, so a little background, I had this figure from the 3 pack with toad and peach, but I accidentally broke the neck joint trying to switch the head. XD So I went out and bought another one, and as we'll see, I think it was worth it.
Mario V1:
V1 is 4 inches tall, has a closed mouth and opened hands, and 11 points of articulation. He comes with a mushroom accessory that's a dark shade of red with off color paint on the spots. Now the negatives of this figure is the joints, they're kinda jagged at the knees and elbows, as well as the painting and sculpting of the mushroom accessory.
Mario V2:
V2 is also 4", has an opened mouth with closed hands, he also sports 13 points of articulation. He also comes with a mushroom accessory which looks way more accurate with a brighter red and rounder sculpt. Mario also has better elbow and knee joints that look more smooth than V1. If there are any negatives with this one, it would be that he has gape-jaw, leaving some poses looking a little awkward, but I totally get they wanna make him look like his 3D in-game models.
Final Verdict:
If it wasn't obvious, V2 Mario wins by a landslide, and proves to be an actual upgrade to the original figure. Overall pretty good, can't wait till Vano- I mean Luigi gets released, and I think that one's also a version 2. We'll have to wait and see, until then I'll also talk about the 5" Cat Noir figure later this week, see you then.
