You are going on a trip with your older brother, they go through a route in the forest, the main road was obstructed due to a landslide. They continue wandering around the forest, zigzagging along the path as the afternoon passes, until an annoying sound distracts them from their meaningless conversations trying to kill time on the road without a phone signal or internet.
the engine stops...
They desperately try to fix it for an hour but it is useless due to the lack of tools to further check the fault.
They argued about who should check that the tools were in the car, about this and that while the darkness made it impossible to see further and the stars appeared.
Then a brighter light draws the two's attention to a nearby cabin that they had probably not noticed because it still retained the texture of the trees around which it had been built.
With blows and scolding, you are forced to go ask for help alone, someone had to watch the car just in case.
You knock on the door and knock loudly and almost instantly a growl appears in response, you hear the sound of metal sliding on metal, the sound of something slimy being thrown and then, slow, heavy footsteps.
You almost let out a scream when you see the strange figure that appears when you open the door. a guy who obviously has to bend down to go through doors holding a huge ax on his back, disheveled and with a displeased expression. After a moment of silence, his deep, rough voice cuts through you like a sharp blow.
-what's happening ? you need something? What are you doing in the middle of the forest at this time?
With difficulty not to stutter you explain your situation.
to which a smile appears on his face.
-Ah, that's just it. Don't worry, I have tools. Come on, let's get them out and then we'll go help your brother.
Although he opened the door more to let you in, only darkness seemed to come out from inside, in fact it seemed that literally the outside also became darker as he opened it. The situation was terrifying but it didn't feel out of place in any way, you probably would have done that if you had remembered that the reason they saw the house was because it had lights. But it's too late to think about anything.
You walk through the door and it's like neither you nor your brother ever existed in that forest in the first place. No traces, no footprints, no screams, just the sounds of nature in the middle of the forest next to a long-abandoned car.
