Right after Harmony and Becky Buzzard drink the tainted curse water in the canteen, they fall under the evil spell set up by Duggery's shadow to corrupt anyone that drinks whatever water it touches, succeeding in corrupting a few civilians, including many friends that Brandon and the Cowboys made along the way. Having no idea what is happening, Harmony drags Baron (Boot Hill Buzzard) with Becky's help after being tricked into making their turn in Phantom Valley, inhabited by many restless spirits.....and where evil cults from long ago practiced forbidden, evil sacrifices with their black magic rituals. At this rate, Skull Duggery has become weakened in his physical form after the black hooded wolf named Death had been stopped and he had not been able to get that much negative energy to feed off of, going into hiding somewhere to wait for a time to come back in another physical form to take over temporarily until he would find the next vessel. By that, he plans to use Baron's body as a vessel to take over as payback and revenge for being defeated back up in Skull Mountain Mine just when he was about to unleash the Beast that he feeds every year. Even with Baron's body, Skull Duggery would later focus on finding ways to get his bony hands on Brandon's vessel once he had the Dog Town Sheriff right where he wanted him, seeing as Baron was the perfect bait to get close enough towards him, using his shadow to transform Brandon into some kind of mindless killing machine.
