Ok full disclosure. I was a theater cub. Now Work in the theater tech industry soooooo when the run of one of my favorite shows ended I had to get art of Ty as a cute Newsie! he looks quite good in the standard outfit.

There's a great 'old photos' site called Shorpy.com where, if you dig deep enough, you can find numerous contemporary photos of Newsies and Newsettes, some absurdly young, plying their trade.

The musical at least the original boradway run wasn't very accurate but the one my Theater did tried to have dirty and smudged outfits and such. The story obviously was the same as always but the way our version showed poor kids was pretty damn good! also yes girls were newsies too so eat that disney!
