What size is your original paper? Most Western comics are done on tabloid size bristol board manuscript paper called "DC Board" and manga is usually drawn on JIS B4 size manuscript paper. For my traditional media 4 panel strips I'm splitting a 14 by 11 sheet in half to get two 7 by 11 pieces that hold two cells each. I may get some A4 manuscript paper for drawing some comics while working with my tiny scanner that can only handle up to a4. Just makes it limiting as I could only fit like up to 4 cells per page.

"US Letter" aka 8.5X11. Perhaps splitting your pages on to two sheets would help since you could draw much bigger.You would just need to combine the two half pages into one using like Gimp.
