A little more insight on me and my particular job on the rails: As the Brakeman (or assistant engineer, as some refer to me) I'm responsible for riding in the locomotive cab alongside the engineer of the trains and performing tasks such as throwing switches in route, flagging non gated or malfunctioning crossings, coupling/disconnecting the cars and their air hoses, and being the extra eyes and ears for the engineer overall, especially when performing reverse or switching moves.
