Inspired by Damien's playthrough of Horizon's Gate, where they used our old Ironclaw characters for most of the prominent crew. I'd have liked to get Nekot and Alessi in there too, but I think I ran out of steam early the night I was working on this and couldn't figure out where or how to place them. Aaaand I've not had any new/better thoughts on that, so I kinda just finished what was already there. Still! Think these three look pretty cool together, so... there's that!

Update - Now with Nekot and Alessi!! Whooo~!!

You played Iron Claw? I have the books but nobody to play it with :(

Yeah, I've played in three campaigns now? It's pretty fun?
It can be hard to get people into though, because the books are not written very well XD so a lot of things are difficult to understand. But if you can get a group together, it's pretty fun, yeah.

Ya I tried to look through the books and understand it but I think I would need someone who already understood it to walk me through it the first time before I could do it myself lol.

Yeah, I feel like it really takes a good GM who already knows what they're doing to walk you through things. Because once you have a general understanding of the system, it's really easy to use. It's just getting over that first massive hurdle.

And possibly also such a GM to personally reorganize the entire books, so that their players can find everything that they actually need more easily. Which one of mine did-- XD Was very helpful.

Ya I find the books are not that straight forward in “Here is all the information you need for a character” in like one chapter in a liner format. But if I remember correctly there is a players book I think…. I would have to dig up the books I have again and peek at them more

*nodnods* I'm not sure that I'd be the best teacher for it? XD But I've experienced it enough I could maybe provide the basics?

But yeah... no, pretty sure the Core Omnibus is the main book for players/gms alike. They don't really have a dedicated "player's guide" and "DM's guide" like D&D does. I think part of the problem is that, because of how the creators developed it, they assume certain abilities and magics will not or should not be available at character creation-- so they just move those entire sections to the back of the book instead. Which is incredibly frustrating. Because you'll read about a certain type of magic as a starting option-- but then be given ZERO INFORMATION about what that magic can really do and what's available for it in higher tiers of spell, etc... Same with various special techniques, in which they'll tell you "this is an option of study" and then hide the rest of the details elsewhere. So it's nearly impossible to get a complete picture of a potential character build path because they spread the details all over the book.

Subsequent expansion titles add more things in a similar fashion. Putting half the info in the front and the rest in the back. It makes finding anything important incredibly frustrating.

Ya, I did notice that when I was looking at the book to create a character, I was kinda just a tad bit lost.... I blame that a bit on the other games I play TTRPG's that all kinda have a chapter that is all about creating a character and has everything you need right there in thath chapter for the most part. And what it does not have it tells you right where to find it.

Yeah-- XD That. Basically most books are put together in such a manner that you can find what you need as you need it quickly and easily. Ironclaw is-- NOT That. XD XD
If there is any major flaw to point out about it, it's that. Because once you're actually playing-- it's... fine? Once you have an understanding of what you're doing. So it just takes a lot longer to get started because of the poor layout. Unless you have someone who's already played to sit down and go through it with you.
