I tend not to play religious characters in TTRPG because I have difficulty associating with them; religion is a super foreign concept to me so I only have thirdhand experience. However, when Pawn invited me to play in-person D&D for his Penance game, I wanted to do something different and made a pious enby tiefling named Eydun. He initially followed the guidance of the WotC-approved Apollo, but I chose to switch that over to an original deity.
Don't let his age, thin frame and overtly kind soul beguile you, though. He's got the physical strength needed of a paladin and is more than capable of clattering the skull of an errant bandit with his hefty mace, and will more than readily call out somebody - even fellow party members - if they do something he views as foolish.
The left picture is based on an event that actually happened. I call it "Eydun makes a whoopsie."
