Hoping the painted paper would do away with the feathering problems, it was discovered that I somehow managed to get some kind of oil or grease onto the surface and the ink would not stick very well. When I scanned the image into the computer, the not sticking ink was just as bad not painting the paper first. The whole page did not require to be cleaned up, so it went much faster than the Wolf Clan pages. Coloring has begun.
I hate when paper doesn't cooperate with inking. Especially that one sheet in a sketch pad or book that is somehow the only one that is "not right". This actually looks like it worked out though so that's good. :)

I found that four to six coats of white acrylic paint solves the problem with feathering and texture problems, in this case some greasy-like substance got onto the paper and the ink would not stick properly. On professional paper, the cover shows an anime figure and it promotes for manga creation, the paper is textured badly and the feathering still occurs. The problem with the paint is that color pencils do not stick to it.

Ahh. So you paint your paper with white paint before you use your colored pencils on it. I've never tried that so it might be something for a later project.

No, I paint the paper when I am doing work that will be toned using PhotoShop or a painting. The pencils, which are wax, will not stick to the paint so I use the untreated paper to do pencil work, which means living with the feathering and bleeding of the ink.
