I’m joking, but that is extremely cryptic and pretty damn worrisome! 😅
Edit:Damn, even Leo is not happy at all…he’s been hoping for this opportunity his entire life, and this is what it’s come to for him. I bet he’s feeling like just a glorified babysitter.
Edit: (okay, last time I swear) The COLORS!!! 🤩
“And that’s….how they died.” 🤣 I’m joking, but that is extremely cryptic and pretty damn worrisome
- oh, poor leo: his glory angst, his honour thirst, his desire to lead a powerful army to victory must wait a tiny little bit... - oh, poor miralle: throwed at the head of the most heterogeneous army ever, without a clue on what to do... - oh, poor chili: with less clues than miralle, if this is possible: she didn't even suspected to being a noble knight... - oh, poor tristan: he's the last of the bums, live as a pickpocket, and now into something he do not even understand... - oh, poor nigel: already so messed up, and now those new tortures falling on him, blindness and be forced into this madness...
- oh, poor leo: his glory angst, his honour thirst, his desire to lead a powerful army to victory mu
Lesson 1 - Drop all preconceptions of what sort of person a Knight should be. Set ego and judgement aside, and then learn what is truly needed, and how you fit in.

Honestly, I hate this cryptic behavior. I think she's setting them up for failure. And she's even doing it knowingly. One guy is blind and basically hates everyone, especially the Tree herself. One guy is a show-off with a lot of muscle and little brain, and the others don't get along with him. They're basically the highest servants of the Tree now (if I understand correctly) and she still leaves them completely in the dark, they don't know more about what's going on than every other pleb. Which also means they have no idea what to prepare for. What's worse, her carefree and aloof attitude conveys the impression that everything's fine and nothing's going on. She gives them a mission but doesn't even really explain what to do. A few pages earlier she muses that she'll never be with them again or something like that. I thought that may mean she's going to die or disappear or something. But seeing how this develops, I think she's sacrificing them.

I've been wanting to comment on this for a while but haven't because it's been enthralling and the comments themselves have been both inflammatory in some cases and intimidating in most. However, seeing the Tree's behavior and attitude and how close it gets to how I portray gods, I think it's time I speak up.
I won't defend the Tree. From the perspective of any person save for herself and other gods, she is being extraordinarily callous and whimsical as if she doesn't know what she's doing or, even worse, is throwing people around willy-nilly, hoping for good results. As someone who sometimes wishes the gods did exist and solved our problems, I am a culprit of this thinking. Our mentality, our morality are specific to humans or similar things as we only live once and, as a consequence, inherently know that we only get one chance to make as big of an impact as possible. Probably why the worst of us do the things they do, and some of us outright deny them of humanity.
It explains how, in this particular story, becoming a Guardian is such a big deal and why being a Knight is an even bigger one. They're fighting against the Chaos, something that is outright killing them. According to our morals, those who should get that role would be the paragons of humanity. Those with no flaws, or so little of them, it may be considered a quirk. That's how the stories and the legends represent them, after all. Being a Guardian or a Knight isn't a person in most of these people's minds; it's a goal to aspire to.
But that can only last until that ideal meets the mess that is reality. No one can be that ideal, no one is that flawless. And the Tree, like every other god portrayed as inherently flawed and self-aware, knows this.
That's why her choice seems so lackluster, why Miralle and Chili feel underwhelmed. They're not chosen because they're paragons, ideals. They're chosen because they might still want to do something about the problem. Because they are part of the mess that is being sapient. They're not perfect, but they represent all of the people and their hopes, their anger, their despair. And considering that they were made Guardians and some that were never made Guardians are being Knighted, I think the Tree was either aware of this or will realize it as things go on.
I don't think, though, that we will be privy to that thought, certainly if it's something she knows. Gods work differently than us as they have something that humanity has always sought, immortality. They know more than we ever will, and the best we can do is guess at intention if there was one in the first place.

FINALLY someone with enough understanding about how to write a good story that understands and looks between the lines and what is shown to understand the deeper storytelling going on. The comments have been infuriating to see, it boggles my mind people consume media on such a shallow level that they fail to see the most basic setups in story telling and deeper meanings behind scenes and such
