Despite being my Tamacolle's original character, his personal story fully written by me(As developer intended, to leave creative space for one's fantasy)
His background story was back when he's still young, he's just an ordinary human child, a descendants of Tanukizaka Shrine, a shrine dedicate for Messengers of god in form of Tanuki.
One day he found a stray tanuki cub nearly falls off the cliff so, he risk his life saving it and took it place.
Severely Injured from falling off the cliff, Spirits of sacred tanuki shrine saw through his good deed, rewarding him by lend some of its spiritual to save young Shouhei's life.
Merging with Divine tanuki spirits, his human form starts to transform into half tanuki-like being, so does his left eye.
His original eyes color was blue as you see on his right eye, because of this people tend to fear him not only his half-beast appearance but also his odd eye, which they presume he is somehow possessed by the spirits.(Which in fact he's totally aware of himself, only the appearance that matter)
