Well, after about 45 hours of work, I finally completed my newest art project. This depicts Twilight Sparkle as an angel in a heavenly paradise with a glowing halo and a white dress made out of star dust. This is loosely based on a fan theory I heard about 10 years ago. According to an idea proposed by the YouTube user AnY Entertainment, Twilight actually died in the season 3 finale. When her friends accidentally zapped her with the Elements of Harmony, she disappeared leaving behind a pile of ash where she once stood. Could it be that her friends unintentionally incinerated her? Twilight then wakes up in a surreal heavenly-like place where she’s greeted by Princess Celestia(who is basically God in the MLP universe) and as a reward for her good deeds, Twilight is granted a pair of angelic-like wings. We would later notice in the series finale that when Twilight is the new ruler of Equestria, she doesn’t appear to age yet her friends all show wrinkles and patches of gray hair. Does this mean that Twilight is now some form of spiritual entity that will outlive all of her friends as well as everyone she ever knew? If so, that’s a much darker way of viewing the ultimate fate of the series.
I decided to title this drawing “Who Wants to Live Forever” after the Queen song of the same name(which is one of my favorite bands BTW). The song tells a story about an immortal man who must cope with his dying wife and contemplates why someone would want to forever if none of your loved ones are there with you? It’s already been established that Celestia and Luna appear to be immortal(or at the very least, live for thousands of years) so why wouldn’t Twilight have the same outcome? I wanted to try and visually capture the curse of living forever in this drawing. Twilight is surrounded by such beautiful scenery and can do anything she wants yet the scenery is empty and lifeless and has nopony to share the experience with. She then breaks down into tears realizing that she is forever alive and forever alone….
But, that’s just my speculation. I hope you still enjoy the drawing itself and you’re free to express your own opinions about what you think Twilight’s ultimate fate is as far as whether or not she’ll outlive everyone else.

Gorgeous piece of artwork! Twilight's expression makes me sad and I want to hug her. The background is beautiful and I love Twilight's design as well.

Note: The thing is if she is an Angelic being then shouldn't she be able to visit her friends in whatever afterlife they end up going to semiregularly? I mean just because her friends are dead doesn't mean she can't see them again while she's still alive. Also, if spirits and ghosts can be summoned then she could probably do that. If there's anyone who can just straight up cut a hole to the afterlife long enough for a single ghost that has already been contacted and consents to returning temporarily, it's a chaos Spirit like Discord.

Also, just because she doesn't age doesn't mean she can't be killed by accident. The longer she lives then the more likely that is to happen she doesn't have some kind of invulnerability or regeneration power.

Also, I wouldn't say Celestia is God but more like a Divine messenger with access to a higher plane. Said plane is where other Divine Messengers, spirits, and selected individuals who died before they could ascend to become Messengers but perform other duties or act as advocates live and work. Presumably, her sister can also access the plane but doesn't do so unless there's a monster invasion, there's some kind of national crisis involving nightmares or sleeping, or her nation is involved in a war.

Harmony seems to be more of a magical creative force that an actual being. If it is a sapient embodiment then they go around planting seeds of Harmony in order to produce trees whose fruits become the Elements of Harmony under the right conditions. No one directly worships the embodiment because it probably doesn't stick around for the tree to grow and just picks or creates someone to look after it.

Those are just my ideas regarding the scenario you mentioned.

Thank you for your feedback and your ideas are quite interesting. It really would've been interesting to see the show dabble more into the subject of death or life after death - which would've been very courageous for a kid's show to do. I also would've liked to have seen this concept explored with ponies that have passed on(such as Applejack's parents). But since the show has ended, all we can do is just speculate as far as what the ultimate fate was for the mane six.
