Poor little thing... she's really sweet and caring. Mr. Ocean is so kind with her, I wish she could stay with him so he can never be alone again, at the same time I wish Tomato will be with her mother again. Cannot wait to see the next pages!

I think its logical for her to try and protect her son, who might not realize all her mother's motives but it shows she really does care for him, and that they're different from what Ginger was with her own mother. Ginger showed a disregard for old ways and being more caring. I don't mean the old ways are necessarily bad either, but in this way, I'd have more sympathy for Ginger. She explored the world, broadened her view of it, and then tried to pass on what she learned.
Now trapped with Mr. Ocean, I feel she got unfairly pulled away from all she loved, and luck has played a cruel trick on her, lucky enough to be alive, unlucky enough to feel the alternative was perhaps better than not seeing her family again. I think that Mr. Ocean is reluctant to let her leave, but someone who's worshipped as practically a deity by some other creatures, and that has stayed there so long already probably has some tricks and methods at his disposal he might be reluctant to share.
I think he's really intent on her staying and reluctant to help because, whether he wants to admit it or not, he misses company, and he's not had any for a long time. He's trying to make Ginger feel at ease but he's probably also aware he should help her out. If he knows a way, I am quite sure he's got a bit of an inner fight going on, between wanting to not be alone and wanting to help out someone who earnestly asks for help.
That's just my thoughts on the matter, but I think there's a whole lot of drama, and I doubt it'll all be solved in a snap of fingers and explanation of a grin and the word "magic!" there. Still, there's a lot of build-up here, and I bet a great story that Mr. Ocean might not want to remember but which would explain how he ended up there, and if he's got methods to leave, why he isn't leaving. It might be he truly is trapped, or it might be this is by choice, perhaps preferable to actually hurting another? I cannot say for sure, I don't know enough of the character, but he seems to me a tragic figure of a sense.
Powerful, but also smart enough to know there's nothing he can do about something he feels guilty about in his past?

Fantastic character analysis! You hit the nail on the head with Ginger. Her mother was more close-minded because she was so strict about her peoples' traditional ways of life. Ginger holds traditions from two different worlds and there is definitely some inner conflict with herself on what ways are best for her child.
Obviously I can't say much here, but Mr. Ocean is definitely mysterious. it's established that he doesn't understand emotions very well (though that's a trait all merfolk share), so his intentions are never clear. It could all be a drawn-out trick for his own gain--whether it be Ginger's company or something else. Or maybe he genuinely does have big holes in his memory, most likely from the "drug" abuse.
I really enjoy your comments <3 Next page is in progress now!

Its entirely understandable you cant say much about Mr. Ocean, I'm just making some guess work here based on what I've seen, but again, it might be completely incorrect. I've followed stories where I was fairly confident I had it all figured out only to have a big reveal prove I had some of it right, but some of it was way off from the correct answer. Its interesting to try and figure out some of these things, but at the end of the day, its still all just guesswork and I am glad when I get something right, but I do get things wrong too and I'm aware of it. Its still fun to think things through.
The story and the characters are interesting, so trying to see more into it can be quite fun, and bring out some new aspects that might be right, or might be false, it'll be interesting to see from that point on which the future signs point out towards, and more information means more chances to figure things out too. Its fun and interesting, and I kind of see it like reading a murder mystery. There's more to a tale than what you see on the surface, and trying to see a little more depth can bring some interesting revelations, though more common ones are well, more common. Heheh.
Loving the comic and eagerly watching where it goes.
