Just an idea that popped into my head.

Hebe, the Goddess of Youth, was worried when her mother, Hera, planned on punishing these eight mortal beings from Equestria when one of her ancient temples was destroyed by accident. Hebe, moved by Twilight's kindness and friendship earlier when she posed as a meager old mare in need of help, offered another option to her mother; one that would keep them alive (and reborn, as their previous bodies sadly suffered serious damage when the temple collapsed in itself from their battle,) and keep their souls from being sent to Tartarus.

Hebe did like children, after all, and she felt this was a more suiting punishment. Thankfully, as terrifying as her mother can be, (being married to a stallion who constantly flirted with other mares tended to have that effect,) she just barely agreed to it. "Hello, little ones. I'm Hebe, and I'll be looking after all of you for a while." She wondered how long "a while" would be, but she secretly hoped it wasn't too short.
