I skipped a bit ahead in my QnA to answer this one. Dear Eevee, I want to let you know that it is 100% Okay to adjust your character's design over time. If you aren't sure what yet you might be missing, It's super fine to come back to it again at a later date. Uluri has changed quite a bit even after the first design. A lot of the changes I have made were even because of artwork someone else drew for me. I really liked the way X drew this. I loved the changes that Y made. Cannon now. I learned Ulu looks weird for certain Colorblind people? Adjusting a bit of the colors so it's not a solid golden ball.
If you are REALLY stumped, like any project it is best to set it down for a bit and come back. A lot of initial designs I make aren't made in one go. Sometimes it can be weeks until I'm happy with something.
Also, if you're not an artist, but sounding like you're getting art, try to ask for the psd or lineart as well so you can play around with it in the future. FireAlpaca and MediBang are Free Art programs you can use to play around with the lineart. Traditionally, most of my test designs are actually scribbling just the basic shape since i can visualize the actual thing to make later, but maybe asking for the lineart of art you are getting would be a better route.
This question must've gotten your interest a lot if it made you jump ahead.
Thanks for the advice. I never thought about requesting the lineart and see what changes I could do. I never had an OC before so this is still all new to me.

I Decided to jump ahead because it looked like Eevee was in the process of getting the art. So I thought that now would be a good time to ask for the lineart if possible. But if I kept answering in row, this'd probably not get answered for a very long time.
