Taiyang has had a long history of prosperity and peace. Originally founded by worshipers of the god Xiawen, the first ruler was said to be blessed by the god himself, his body looking as though the color from it had faded due to expose to the deity's intense sunlight. Since natural born children in Mylk is rarer then in other planes due to the various regressive magicks that exist there, whenever a emperor or empress passes or steps down, the Solar Monks are charged with finding the next to rule among the populace, refereed to the "Suntouched" They are usually marked with lighter and washed out tones in their coats and skin color, and orange eyes. Once a new Suntouched is found, they are taken to the Solar Monk's Temple to be crowned. The current Empress, Liqiu, was born the daughter of a wealthy merchant, and her upbringing has carried over into her royalty. While she is considered kind to her people, she is a bit spoiled as well, often throwing lavish galas and adorning herself in the finest clothing and jewelery in Taiyang. Recently she has set her sights on expanding Taiyang's trade routes to the western continent, which has inadvertently caught the ire of Halu who may now be facing some competition...
