TRAITS AND PERSONALITY
Few creatures of the world take up the profession of bounty hunting willingly, but it is where Atheress has found herself for many years. She's the textbook definition of a lone wolf: preferring to live and work alone and far away from cities or large groups of people. Atheress is an extreme pragmatist; her solutions to problems are as simple and direct as possible, and her interactions with society are all business and to the point. She talks only to a select few who she needs to and in fewer words. Atheress is extremely slow to trust a new face, but the few connections she does have are extremely meaningful to her. Those that have earned her trust and respect, she would defend without hesitation.
It is no easy task for others to trust Atheress either. Her fierce demeanor is usually enough to keep all but the bravest creatures from taking more than a glance at her. Her scarred, muscular body and unusual, torn outfit are evidence of both her success and reckless behaviour in battle. Atheress is quick to anger, and her mood can shift quickly at even small frustrations or slights from other creatures. For those few that get a chance to work or travel with her, there are small signs that there's more to Atheress than her battle hardened exterior. However, like a physical fight, she almost never drops her emotional guard.
ABILITIES
Atheress prowess in combat is near unmatched, despite receiving no official training nor employing any recognizable style of fighting. Her goal in a fight is almost always to overpower her opponent and cause as much damage as possible. She makes excellent use of her large frame and powerful muscles to overwhelm all but the largest of foes, and will slash and bite opponents with her fangs and claws. As is usually the case with such a large body, her power does come at the cost of some speed and agility, but by no means is she slow.
While nearly every creature in the world possesses the potential to wield elemental magic to some extent based on their natural affinity, Atheress does not. What she does have are two strange crimson crystals embedded into her shoulders. She never speaks about how they got to be fused on to her body, and she lacks any real control over her powers, but the abilities they grant are truly extraordinary. She is completely immune to heat and fire, and can even absorb it to further enhance her abilities in combat. This includes heat generated naturally by her body, whether due to intense emotion or physical exertion. Her body will grow in size and strength slowly over the duration of a fight, or rapidly if heat is absorbed quickly via external means. As it does, her crystals, eyes, and fleshy parts of her body such as scars will begin to glow. As she lacks control of her power, her body will eventually be forced to expel the heat in various ways if too much builds up, often violently. Fire breath, searing hot fangs/claws, or even explosive punches are just some of the ways this might occur. Those that have seen her fight know that if she ever learns to control her powers, she would be near unstoppable.
FUN FACTS AND TRIVIA
Atheress is actually the first character I ever created from scratch, but she changed too much over time to easily settle on a design and finish it. Thus, Malea and Nimah were released first.
Her powers and outfit are majorly inspired from my favourite anime, Dragonball Z. I also drew inspiration from the 'Tales Of' games and, more recently, 'Hades' for her final look.
The back of her hair can be either tied in a wild ponytail or left loose. She (and I) have no preference.
Atheress' development has been a wild ride, and her transformation has undergone so many different iterations. At one point, I tried giving her a completely molten, armored look. She was also transforming to be over 9 ft tall at one point.
