Cody knew that Kinsy wasn't as cold and hard as her demeanor would imply. He's seen her many times at the local wildlife sanctuary that he regularly volunteered with. There he would spend his time caring for the creatures that for one reason or another could not go back to the wild, and he had a much easier time connecting with the animals than most, having been called a genius by many when it came to interacting with animals. That Kinsy, the girl who would regularly visit the sanctuary, and sometimes donate her time and money towards, wasn't too different from Cody in that regard. He always saw how many normally skittish creatures would approach her, and the warm expression on her mostly stone cold face let him know that she had his love of animals in common.

Not being the most socially adept fur out there, Cody tried some small talk with Kinsy, and the occasional hint of physical contact. She wasn't very receptive to his friendly advances and told him off. But that didn't deter Cody like it would most others. After all, he knows that the kitten who hisses the most is the kitten who needs the most care. Sometimes they just need a little push to show them that it was okay. But the tricks that Cody used to tame scared and defensive animals would not work on Kinsy. Clearly he would have to take a different approach if he wanted to befriend this fiesty armadillo.
